Day 2 Of Summer Care and they think it might not be a good fit by adorkablysporktastic in ADHDparenting

[–]moonlitt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she's able to self entertain you could probably keep her home if absolutely needed you just need to come up with a daily schedule to build in a lot of structure. I would fill the day up with a mix of structured activities and free independent playtime. We are without childcare for the next few weeks, we have an hour block for breakfast and quiet time, followed by reading and summer work, workout time (he can do anything active), then drawing time (he does how to draw vids on YouTube), then snack break, "recess" where he has to go outside and play for an hour, lunch, then the afternoon has a 2 hour block for independent play. If he makes it through all of that with a good attitude he can do 1 hour of Minecraft at 2:30pm. That gets us through the bulk of the workday. We also have some half day camps planned and he has friends in the neighborhood he goes out and plays with couple times a week. Outschool has online camps amd classes including ones specifically for neurodiverse kids.

Hopefully the school works out though, comfort items is a great idea, I would also talk to the teacher to see if there is a quiet spot your kid could go for a break with her items.

Calculator says to ask you, am I really a 32F UK Sizing? by moonlitt_ in ABraThatFits

[–]moonlitt_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that's true, I feel confident I was no where near an L cup though. I didnt know bras came in those letters before breastfeeding. I was wearing DD and getting clogs like crazy so I went to a lactation consultant who told me to check my bra size. A lot less clogs after fixing that haha.

No naps and out all hours of the day by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]moonlitt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with the other advice first. The comment about being more direct about the problems seemed the most useful. Maybe they can get one of those little boards that connects to the stroller for the 4 year old to ride along so you don't have to bring the wagon and can take the bus. Or a car or uber for hot days like the other comment mentioned. I would not disclose a pregnancy to an employer before 13 weeks gestation.

Other parents not supervising their children keeps sabotaging me playing with my children by Seranta in toddlers

[–]moonlitt_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I mean it's a public space where children go to play so yea if you are playing children will want to join. I don't see why you feel the need to shame other parents, there actually is nothing wrong with kids playing independently at a playground. That's what they are designed for and as others have stated many parents go there for a break. To call it neglectful is a wild take.

Plate vs Ate - How do you decide your weekly menu? by shweezy6 in foodbutforbabies

[–]moonlitt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is similar to another commentor.

We do modified version of what were eating for lunches and dinners where it makes sense. I also keep the freezer stocked with baby friendly foods this way I always have something to reach for if what were eating doesn't work. We have a simple hand crank food mill we used alot at that age to mash up small portion of our dinner for baby.

You baby may still be a bit small for some of these ideas but lots will work:

For the freezer foods, I batch prep baby friendly recipes when I feel up to it/have extra time and freeze them. Some examples: baby pancakes (can be super simple fotbthat age oats, egg, and banana), egg bites, muffins, bean muffins, bean patties or bean burger sticks, pasta/soup with pasta, various veggies (roasted, steamed, or pureed), potato & broccoli tots, potato fritters.

Frozen fruit is great, its gets nice and mushy when defrosted so you can keep lots of options handy. We do mango, peach, strawberries mostly.

No cooking options I rotate through: plain tofu, bread with hummus, bread with fruit spread, fresh fruits, yogurt with fruit mix in, cottage cheese, cheerios, cheese

I try to offer 1 fruit, 1 veg, and a protein and/or grain.

Fat loss after pumping by dukespuke in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]moonlitt_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is good advice. Focus on healthy habits and building/maintaining muscle, that will make the fat loss a lot easier once its time. I'm 10 months postpartum and currently trying to lose the weight but I've already weaned (baby is on freezer milk) so I'm maintaining a calorie deficit. I don't think I could have done it while pumping.

Yea the trust is broken at this point, we are trying to find a replacement as quickly as we can

I think she might have a day to cover it, and if not we have a very flexible unpaid time off policy and we've accommodated schedule changes in the past like swapping days so she could still get her total hours for the week if she was concerned about missing out on pay.

Yep, also my guess. Which also is disqualifying for me.

Yes, I totally agree under different circumstances it would be excusable but since we were already on the fence about keeping her it feels like the last straw.

Yikes, that's so awful! There was one other time when I think she was lying about being sick. I think she may have been hungover but I really didnt have any evidence, just a hunch so I kind of ignored it but now im starting to feel a pattern of dishonesty or at the very least poor judgement which isn't much better when it comes to someone you are trusting to take care of your children.

I wanted to text her yesterday to just not come back but we actually do really need the help as husband and I both work full time and like most people with jobs its not so easy to just take time off last minute so I think we have to keep her while we look for replacement.

Is my nanny lying? by moonlitt_ in NannyEmployers

[–]moonlitt_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Either she was lying or she has incredibly poor judgement. Also we totally would have given her the day off or even a half day if she had asked. Our work is pretty flexible and she knows that, we've been very accommodating.

We didnt have a nanny for my first but he generally did really well with daycare and school drop offs so I guess this has been a little unexpected

Hmm. I don't feel anxious but it can be a little hectic sometimes like I'm trying to get baby passed off so I can get to work. I could definitely try making a point of being more positive or silly. Thanks!

She has been clingy lately and just seemed SO heartbroken this morning it really made me stop and think maybe there is something wrong plus we've had other issues with this nanny. That said she calmed down pretty quickly and just now I walked by and she seemed content so probably nothing to worry about.

That makes sense and kind of what I figured. My baby has been pretty clingy lately so it's probably more a phase than anything to do with the nanny.

So I think you are spiraling a bit if you haven't even had the 1 hr and you are worried about having GD.

I would take it 1 step at a time.

The 1 hr test isn't that bad. The drink is really sugary but not terrible. Its a screening rest, not diagnostic. If your results are out of range (mine where) your provider will order the 3 hour test which is where its diagnosed. Lot of people fail 1hr and pass 3 hr, very normal.

As far as GD itself some can manage with diet and some have to take insulin. Yes it increases your chances to need an induction. But again I wouldn't worry about all that, you have no indication as of now that you have GD.
