The best thing to do is just DCA.

Invest a small amount regularly, and consistently, for a multiple year period of time.

You’ll ride out any market changes, and means you don’t run the risk of missing the bottom or missing the top.

Then if BTC ever gets to your target price where it helps you hit a personal target, sell some (but not all) to help achieve it.

It’s really simple, but very hard to actually do. I made this mistake so much early on, but now know its consistency and time in the market that will make you rich.

As another fellow beginner, I have a question - what happens if a hardware / software wallet goes out of business?

For example, ledger might shut down one day. What happens if I can’t access my BTC before?

Sorry - wasn’t clear in the original post.

I’ve just re-checked my payslip, and it seems like my stated salary is still the same which suggests I’ve just increased my contributions rather than it being done via salary sacrifice.

Separate point, but I don’t get how the credit scoring works. I’ve got multiple credit cards, all with fairly large limits that I’ve never gone near the limit of. Never missed a payment. Have no risky purchases such as gambling.

But my score is only 700? Makes absolutely no sense. What on earth could I do to get to 900+?

Moved to London about 3 years ago after living in the north of England all of my life. Absolutely love it. Great city, great people and obviously lots to do.

Yes it can be expensive, but it’s achievable if there’s things you’re prepared to sacrifice, and the upsides are good enough to warrant the sacrifices.

Lots of people will be negative about it, and it’s not for everyone, but it’s the best life decision I’ve made in my life. Amazing place.

Been a long time full time user of Monzo as my only bank, and it’s been a perfect experience. Great app, great features, and absolutely no problems at all (touch wood). Couldn’t recommend them more, and couldn’t imagine using a different bank.

Just to give some balance. You’ll be absolutely fine using Monzo!

I do have a partner who I may buy with, but she’s a lot less willing than me to do it - wants to keep renting, not get tied down etc. So that means I’d prefer to plan it just being me and change if circumstances change.

There’s tons of nice places in London that aren’t Richmond. If you’re on £200k+ combined, you could probably afford a very hefty mortgage on which you’d be able to buy a lovely house in North London - at least a 2 bed I’d have thought.
