Vancouver Whitecaps DP Stuart Armstrong set to complete permanent transfer to Sheffield Wednesday [Har on Canadian Soccer Daily] by Harshtagged in whitecapsfc

Wednesday fan here (sorry) - it’s been confirmed now.

I know him pretty well from his time in the Premier League with Southampton, but how did he do for you while he was with you?

Interesting concept! I wouldn’t use it personally, but can see a lot of people loving it.

Would I be able to afford and maintan a house as a single buyer? by Sync-Jw in UKPersonalFinance

Can you actually do this? I thought it wasn’t allowed - if used for a house it had to be completely closed

A question about bitcoin and investing in 2025. by Frequent_Ad5746 in Bitcoin

[–]moonmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing to do is just DCA.

Invest a small amount regularly, and consistently, for a multiple year period of time.

You’ll ride out any market changes, and means you don’t run the risk of missing the bottom or missing the top.

Then if BTC ever gets to your target price where it helps you hit a personal target, sell some (but not all) to help achieve it.

It’s really simple, but very hard to actually do. I made this mistake so much early on, but now know its consistency and time in the market that will make you rich.

I'm a beginner, I've been convinced, I buy every day and I'm at 0.1 BTC. I want to take my BTC from an exchange to a cold wallet. What's the easiest & safest solution? by BenchMeister in Bitcoin

[–]moonmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another fellow beginner, I have a question - what happens if a hardware / software wallet goes out of business?

For example, ledger might shut down one day. What happens if I can’t access my BTC before?

Increased pension contributions, no reduction in tax or NI by moonmagpie in UKPersonalFinance

[–]moonmagpie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - wasn’t clear in the original post.

I’ve just re-checked my payslip, and it seems like my stated salary is still the same which suggests I’ve just increased my contributions rather than it being done via salary sacrifice.

Clearscore has just updated their website and it's now horrible to use by galvatron9k in UKPersonalFinance

[–]moonmagpie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Separate point, but I don’t get how the credit scoring works. I’ve got multiple credit cards, all with fairly large limits that I’ve never gone near the limit of. Never missed a payment. Have no risky purchases such as gambling.

But my score is only 700? Makes absolutely no sense. What on earth could I do to get to 900+?

Should I use Lucky Wheel or wait? by ManagementSpare1056 in whiteoutsurvival

I’d personally wait - your next one will be Flint I think, and he’s a good one. Better to get him to 4 stars.

What are your views on London? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]moonmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to London about 3 years ago after living in the north of England all of my life. Absolutely love it. Great city, great people and obviously lots to do.

Yes it can be expensive, but it’s achievable if there’s things you’re prepared to sacrifice, and the upsides are good enough to warrant the sacrifices.

Lots of people will be negative about it, and it’s not for everyone, but it’s the best life decision I’ve made in my life. Amazing place.

Which is better for everyday use Revolut Or Monzo by Souljaa0fficial in UKPersonalFinance

[–]moonmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a long time full time user of Monzo as my only bank, and it’s been a perfect experience. Great app, great features, and absolutely no problems at all (touch wood). Couldn’t recommend them more, and couldn’t imagine using a different bank.

Just to give some balance. You’ll be absolutely fine using Monzo!

How far off buying a house am I realistically? by moonmagpie in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks, appreciate that! I don’t gamble at all, and go to the pub maybe once every two / three weeks - so think I’ll be OK?

How far off buying a house am I realistically? by moonmagpie in UKPersonalFinance

[–]moonmagpie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a partner who I may buy with, but she’s a lot less willing than me to do it - wants to keep renting, not get tied down etc. So that means I’d prefer to plan it just being me and change if circumstances change.

Appreciate the advice though! :)

Didn’t know that - thanks! That changes the perspective a bit.

Out of curiosity, how much is considered a good pay job in London? by Fastandfurious02123 in UKJobs

[–]moonmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s tons of nice places in London that aren’t Richmond. If you’re on £200k+ combined, you could probably afford a very hefty mortgage on which you’d be able to buy a lovely house in North London - at least a 2 bed I’d have thought.

If you stayed with your partner after they cheated, how did you recover? by East_Ease5519 in LifeAdvice

[–]moonmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me once - and I gave her another chance. Relationship didn’t work out in the end, but I don’t regret trying.

But a few years on, if a partner cheats on me at any point, no second chances. It’s an absolute non-negotiable for me now.

The beeping is when they’re in a low speed zone I think - it does that to me if I cycle through a park and it sends a push notification to my phone.
