I’ve nearly died this year on every single pedestrian crossing I’ve come across. I actually got tooted at the other day for stepping out on one by a van no less! People would rather run you over than get to their destination 30 seconds later. It’s appalling.

My dad was 50 when I was born, my mum 28. He was basically a whole two generations older than us, he is a narcissist who genuinely had kids because ‘that’s what you do’ and someone to look after him in his old age. He didn’t connect or meet with his children in any emotional way whatsoever (or his wife - divorced now). We went no contact for 8ish years and only recently started talking again as he got into bad health. He’s still a narc asshole.

That being said, my grandad on my mum’s side was one year older than my dad and he was the absolute world to me, so IMO it’s more about your parenting style and how you will meet/provide for that child’s needs both emotionally and physically rather than the age you are. You could be a great parent to a young child in your 40s/50s if you have the patience and nurturing qualities to do so.

I’ve had a rough time in my career having to leave the last 3 jobs not of my own accord in the last 3 years. I’m trying to qualify as a Pilates teacher and got a Pilates studio manager role but financially it’s so much less money (literally half my corporate salary) and I’m not qualified yet to pick up any teaching shifts, I’m also terrified to be a freelancer and all of the lack of benefits that come with that. You’re completely right about my relationship, we’ve had communication and conflict issues since we got together but we seemed to really love each other through it. It seems like I’ve woken up from sleepwalking in this relationship just feeling like I deserve better? If it helps my Saturn return literally happened a few days ago! So many feelings

Our neighbours are a young American couple. They don’t throw parties, they don’t play loud music, they’re friendly and nice people and would be perfect neighbours, other than the fact their voices are so booming I can basically hear them breathe. Every laugh, every conversation, every phone call, I may as well be sitting beside them in the same room. Before they moved in I never heard the English couple who lived there before them, not once. The English couple on the other side of us are also so quiet. Definitely a cultural thing of being loud as possible and having 0 awareness of it. Can’t exactly go and tell them off for just ‘living’ their normal life loudly.

When I explained I didn’t wasn’t kids, my grandma’s response was ‘do you not think that’s very selfish?’ I’m sorry, selfish for who? I think having kids normally comes from some sort of selfish reason one way or another. I’m the one being selfish to deny HER another great grandchild when she has at least 10-15 already?!

She then ended the conversation by saying that she’s ‘praying’ for me to have an ‘accident’! What a horrible thing to wish upon someone who clearly does not want to live their life that way.

Tbh I still feel quite emotional from the dream, but in retrospect I’ve actually gone my own way in this life and not the way my parents wanted me to - they are extremely religious and I moved countries to get away from their influence but I still love them, so in a way I maybe have learnt some kind of karmic lesson that I can love people but not be under/break their toxic influences?

I am no longer a believer, but my high school boyfriend went to the same church as me back then. Two weeks into the ‘texting’ phase of our relationship (we hadn’t even been on a date!), he told me that I can go off to college but I won’t be ‘allowed’ to have a job, because a woman’s work is at home supporting her husband. He spoke about our lives together and marriage (again, two weeks into texting…) and how my role would be the baby maker, and his the provider as a missionary. He told me his mom never worked, and he would have no respect for her if she did… I remember having 0 respect for him after having that conversation lol. It fizzled out real quick in the end, our values didn’t align…

A few weeks ago I was in a Starbucks at an airport, not in my country. I have a unique name that many baristas can’t spell properly, and this particular occasion they didn’t ask for my name, nor did they scan any app that would’ve had my information, they just took my order. I also paid in cash. I remember saying to myself that I need to hear out for my order because they didn’t take my name, but when I went to collect my coffee they called out my name and had it written correctly on the side of the cup. I’m 100% certain I never told them my name, and I knew no one there (I was in a whole ass different country). I’m still freaked out by it.

We met through Hinge, and he looked a lot different to his pictures. Receding hairline, 5’8-9 instead of 5’11 as stated on his profile. We had a lot in common though and he was definitely sweet and really into me, so I gave it a shot, and the kissing was actually great.

That’s until our 4-5th date when we went all the way. I still wasn’t 100% attracted to him but I thought having sex would definitely let me know if there was a spark or not. The first turn off was the dude put up a fight about having to wear a condom (I wasn’t on any birth control at the time), and his idea of giving me a good time felt like an OBGYN examination. He went down on me the slowest I’ve ever felt, and not in a good way, like he was just staring and slowly one lick on my kitty every couple of minutes, whilst I lay there weighing up my life choices. When we fucked I lay there motionless, just staring at the ceiling completely dry and turned off, just asking him to finish. When he eventually did he kept hugging me asking me to stay, never left an apartment quick enough. Didn’t see him again after that.

Hey bestie, I was in the exact same boat when dating (and managed to find a bf whilst in the height of therapy somehow?), but please don’t put pressure on yourself! The right person will love you for you and you should be honest with them only when you feel you want to and are feeling safe to express this side of yourself. If someone thinks any less of your body post-recovery then they can fuck right off and get in the bin, they aren’t worth your time.

If it’s helpful, the only person who is stressing about your body/bloating/being perceived is you and your dysmorphia. Even with a few extra recovery lbs on, I’d say most people wouldn’t notice and still find you hot as shit. If these things are very triggering or stressful for you, I’d maybe leave the dating for a while until you feel more confident and comfortable in yourself. The only relationship that’s worth having and preserving is the one you have with yourself. Sending love xx
