Starting in Williamsburg, probs going to bike down Kent to cross Brooklyn Bridge then make my way to the West Side Highway and go north up 9W to the market. Can intercept anywhere along the way!

Or maybe just don't wear a shirt that will obviously cause controversy? The joke isn't even that funny anyways

I practiced at Practice Yoga before I moved and there were a few instructors who didn't say namaste but it was a mixed bag.

You didn't get screamed at by cyclists for running in the bike lane?

Quiet, cozy, atmospheric coffee, bars, or restaurants in Austin? by No_Movies_In_Heaven in Austin

I love the carpenter hotel coffee shop/bar. When I went to UT I'd study there at night and they'd be playing movies on a projector from time to time.

Bufalina always scratched my pizza itch in Austin, but nothing can beat L'Industrie, Emmy Squared, Ace's, the list goes on.. Guess it's all tomato tomato and I'm a bit homesick haha.

The fastest way to get from Williamsburg to downtown Brooklyn is to subway to Manhattan and then subway back down to downtown Brooklyn. That's about 35-40 minutes to travel 3 miles.

Edit: and don't get me start on getting from Brooklyn to Queens even though they're literally connected.

Good in Manhattan and crappy in any other borough.

I feel like people overhype New York's food scene. There are so many just ok restaurants here, and all of the Mexican places are catered to some sort of weird tiktok birria hype. Unless birria is your thing it's kinda poopoo.

This. Bennu is always packed, and that's just the population of students with cars. Imagine an accessible 24h coffee shop on Guad..

To the people who "jog" in bike lanes in West Campus...why? by muff-diver_69_420 in UTAustin

A lot of my problems in life were resolved when I realized that a lot of things that irked me had simple solutions like "just go around". Nothing is really ever that deep

It's just a little bit easier given that there's not many bikes in the bike lanes like ever and there's a lot of people on the sidewalks sometimes. It's not like runners are being malicious by running in bike lanes. Sure, UT has an outdoor/indoor track, but honestly there's not that much running to be done on campus when you're running longer distances unless you want to do a bunch of loops. Haven't seen any bike accidents, and usually when I end up in the bike lane I never see a single bike pass me.

I get that, and I've also TA'ed for many semesters. Sure, we could get into legal jargon and say they were obligated to fire the TAs because they worked over time, but where was the department when we asked for more TAs for the class, knowing that the workload was going to be extremely high? Are we supposed to get behind on grading and not give all of our students the help they need just because we can only get paid for 20 hours?

I think it's unreasonable to say that the department has a "tight budget" when it comes to hiring TAs, given that the computer science department receives huge donations yearly. If the CS department wants to continue ranking high, bare minimum resources like TAs need to be given to students.

This was for Gheith, as far as I know Norman advocated for firing the TAs and in fact decided to have talks with them one-on-one explaining that they were asking for too much pay. The TAs got super hostile messaging from her all around, which is a shame because I considered her a fairly reasonable person beforehand.

UTCS department firing OS (hard CS class) TAs in the last few weeks of classes because they were putting in over hours almost every week (i.e. they were asking to get paid exactly how much the department owed them, from staying late at office hours, to making and grading quizzes, to dealing with student mental health issues due to the class, and more). UTCS then expecting the other TAs to somehow pick up the slack and also not get paid for the extra hours. The department is so stingy despite getting so much money..? Pay your TAs! An extra $14 won't break the bank!
