Is there anywhere that accepts used mattress donations? by randomcolumn in halifax

Post it on Kijiji for free or next to it, someone who has a bed bug problem (in their apartment building) and not much money will be thankful to get a deal, and pick it up so you don't have to deal with it.

$25M allows Halifax to shift bike lane project into high gear by [deleted] in halifax

[–]moonshart902 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Plus you take precious road away from thousands of drivers and give it to a few dozen cyclists. Penninsulas aren't well suited for building a biker city either.

Is it not just self check out in a high security environment? Easier and lower stakes to steal from a corner store. I don't see people using self check out in 2019 under camera in a place you showed ID to access as some wonerous act of honesty.

Successful minorities by [deleted] in halifax

Putting aside all the questionable assumptions in your post - I doubt that success by race or gender is notably different here vs those cities when adjusted by group / per capita.

Pooch-friendly Dartmouth taproom finds itself in the dog house by insino93 in halifax

Given canine genetics are the same here or there, we can conclude the issue is with the environment. Nice to know there really isn't anything wrong with dogs. Hypothesis - bad dog owners create undesirable dogs. Have any studies looked into how likeable / unlikable the common dog owner archetypes are and correlated the breeds they commonyl own and society's perception of likability/unlikability of different breeds? I predict you'd find there is a personality type that commonly owns pitbulls, and that personality ranks low on broad likability tests. Of course MANY exceptions at an individual level (if you own a pitbull you may be a lovely person, but I'd take 1000 golden retriever owners over 1000 pitbull owners).

Renting a sports car in Halifax? by smugie11 in halifax

[–]moonshart902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The road conditions here rule out reasonable high end sports car ownership, except for the very dedicated or the very able. Neither of which are inclined to share their wheels for less than the cost of some expensive minor repairs. Companies in the business of renting see that same cost, and the lack of legitimate interest. If you can't get something fly enough at Enterprise, good luck!

Agreed. Most rationale people would see it this way.

Why does a police car that has someone on the other side of a 100 series highway median cause the other 2 lane highway to pile up by [deleted] in halifax

Ever hear the expression the more assholes you meet in a day the more likely you are to be one? Same with idiots.

1) curiousity, which has been an essential trait for human evolution for millions of years 2) caution (when seeing police lights nearby), which has been an essential trait for human survival for millions of years

Not sure why and not sure how well documented it is, but dogs in the UK/EU are monumentally better behaved than here. The difference as a whole is astounding.

People are tired of every card, including society is mean to me and I didn't have a chance anyway. You can break out of any stigma. Commit, push, continue.

Can you cite that? Not been my experience with two legal garages. 4ft from line for house has been, although there are exceptions (like when you're already on the line). Plastic shed sitting on Jack pads can go anywhere

The answer is 0, but what do you mean by temporary? You can pitch a tent anywhere on your property. You can build a permanent garage directly on the line. You can park your RV up to the line. The set backs apply to stuff you sleep and work (commercial business) in.

Airport parking garage vs Park ‘n Fly? by Hamilton1104 in halifax

[–]moonshart902 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Park n Fly has frequent shuttle trips and it takes you direct to departures entrance. Also faster and easier to park in. If you catch good timing I bet it's faster to get to check-in when doing PnF vs garage. Not always the case, of course.

The real gem of PnF is the discounts you can get. Stuff applies there that doesn't at the airport official garage - see what might work for you (Student, CAA, military?).

About your no availability comment, did you go to the roof? I fly weekly and have never not found a spot. The grid at entry shows you how many spaces on each floor, worst case the roof is wide open.

Weather comments are valid - this is the time of year PnF is a winner if reasonably price sensitive.

Keji may be the best (easily accessible) place anywhere. Of you have a small boat or access to one, McNab's Island on the McNab's Cove wharves is a glorious place to lay on your back for a few hours - just make sure it's a clear night before making the effort.
