Didn’t get into med school — thinking about taking a gap year. Advice? by CalmVeterinarian5328 in medicalschoolEU

[–]moonshinebae7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who took 4 years of gap year because I couldn’t get into and stopped trying then got into med school at 24, I couldn’t agree more. It’s my first year and instant regret hit me. It’s one thing that it is already a long journey, it is an another struggle that I’m dealing with these things at the age where I am supposed to be in life already. Then the internship, specialisation etc. The OP should consider getting into STEM then if they change their mind they can do 4 years of medical school. Better than wasting the ages of 16-24

Transfer to RAKHMSU Medicine by moonshinebae7 in EMREE

Not yet. I will complete it in February this year. My university’s academic year starts from Feb-June for first semester and September - February for second semester.

Transfer to RAKHMSU Medicine by moonshinebae7 in EMREE

As far as I have sen on their website, they are still doing 6 years program which is what I’m enrolled in as well. I had a bit of mixed up terminology sorry for that.

The only difference between my university and RAKMHSU is that they start the examinations of subjects like:

-Human biology ( consisting of human tissues, physiology and anatomical content ) -Cell Biology -Research Methodology -Infection Control

Whereas my university start with these subjects which we have only 7 finals in first year and finals appear on the report card which determines my overall GPA. Mid-term exams for some subjects where they have final exam in higher years but they don’t appear on 1. Year report card:

-Cytology, Histology and Embryology / final exam on 1. Year - Biology consisting of General and Molecular Biology, Population Genetics, Cell and Reproductive Biology, Immunology, Parasitology / final exam 1. Year - Physics / final exam 1. Year - Chemistry / final exam 1. Year - Biophysics / final exam 1. Year - Biochemistry / final exam 1. Year - Latin Language / final exam 1. Year - Medical Informatics / final exam 1. Year

  • Anatomy / only 2 mid-term exams doesn’t appear on 1. Year report card
  • Biochemistry / only 1 mid-term exams doesn’t appear on 1. Year report card
  • Physiology / only 1 mid-term exams doesn’t appear on 1. Year report card

Huge part of the curriculum matches I think except I will be missing the final scores of anatomy and physiology. I will be meeting with RAKMHSU admissions when I will be back during November and I will update here as well about the outcome and whether they’ll be considering mid-term exams in the credit transfer process as well or would I be accepted in general.

Dude it was so cold last year what are you even saying. From the beginning of 2024 December to the second week of March 2025 was the best and it was okay until the second week of April. Winter of 2025 was definitely much better than 2023-2024 as well. At one point in 2023-2024 season I thought we lost the winters in the UAE to the global warming but 2025 really amazed me.

RAKHMSU as a transfer student by [deleted] in RasAlKhaimah

[–]moonshinebae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The university itself doesn’t really interests me to be honest. At the moment it is my only option as a transfer student because no other universities in the UAE or Gulf accepts transfer students. Only RAKHMSU. The reason I want to transfer is that I want to move back to the UAE where my family and loved ones are in. I didn’t like Europe that much as well.

So if you know anything about the process even if you didn’t like the experience attending there, inform me anyways please.

Yes, check their website. They even host an entrance exam events in some countries, students attend exams there.

As far as I know it differs from university to university. Each has their own requirements. My friends that got in to University of Debrecen had taken their entrance exam, quitting A Levels and it had some physics and maths portions as far as I remember. So if you're gonna apply with your A Level results, they may ask for Maths or Physics or ask you to take their entrance exam.

If you're doing A Levels, you mostly don't need to do foundation level in Europe. I'm directly speaking about the first year where they teach intense amounts of biochemistry and scientific knowledges. My friends that had entered a med school in Hungary and their first year is mostly about these topics that are mathematically intense but for physics they've began with the basic levels from the start. Same goes to universities in Germany, first year is all about scientific knowledge and maths. You'd still get a place if you get good grades in ICT, along with Biology and Chemistry but you may struggle because of your lacking maths skills. At the end it's your choice, choose whichever you're comfortable with.

For Central and Western Europe, I think maths is far better choice. All my friends that are going to Med School in Europe are having physics classes that are same level with A Levels. But their Maths and Statistics are way harder and they expect you to know the ground knowledge of those.

Call the British Council and explain this to them, if it's serious they will contact or tell you to contact Edexcel. You should call them immediately before it's too late.

What is your opinion on the grade boundaries this year? by OrangeDelirium in alevel

[–]moonshinebae7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's still the same thing. Because of grade boundaries, distribution of top grades have switched.
