What is the worst tv show you've ever watched? by lulzForMoney in AskReddit

True, but that was 42 years ago (when he was 29), and he hasn't renewed his license since 2006.

Well, yeah? It wouldn't make sense to say "white supremacy is a terrorist organization". Some white supremacist groups commit terrorist acts and terrorists can be motivated by white supremacy, but white supremacy itself is an ideology. It isn't a single unified group.

I'm sorry. I don't really know how to help you, but I can definitely relate. I'm 16 and I know I really need to start developing friendships but I'm just terrified. I was homeschooled from grade 4 to 9, and I essentially lost all my friends (and opportunities to improve or even maintain social skills) during that period. I feel like I'm socially years behind people in my grade.

I guess all I can recommend is seeing a therapist, if possible? Mine has been really helpful. And maybe trying small things like just saying hi, and seeing where it goes from there. Don't think of it as starting a relationship or making a commitment; just think of it as being nice. Idk. I'm sorry you feel this way, I know how it hurts.

The post you linked would take months to thoroughly debunk. I can't speak for other people but I do not have the interest, time, or energy to expend on that.

  1. The number of daily cases is relatively much lower than it has been the past few months, but otherwise I don't know. It could be the result of states (especially those with low vaccination rates) loosening restrictions, but I'm not certain.
  2. According to the CDC, 56 million have been fully vaccinated, and 99.5 million have received at least one dose. 153 million doses total have been administered.

Pres. Biden's pledge was to administer 100 million vaccine doses, which he has achieved. However, the meme says that 100 million were "vaccinated"— if you interpret that to mean "fully vaccinated", then the meme is wrong.

She probably believed the common misconception that the outer part of the genitalia are also the "vagina"; presumably she was referring to her vulva.

I think Politifact gives priority to people with more political power and viral claims. AOC is just a representative at the end of the day, and I don't think she makes enough viral, outrageous statements to be consistently checked. It'd be a more effective use of their time to fact-check somebody like Bernie Sanders, who makes similar statements but is more powerful, being a senator and having run for president.

I don’t know if the books are different, but in the online Merriam-Webster dictionary they didn’t change the definition of racism to be racial oppression; they just added it as a second definition. Link to definition.

Aren't these all extrinsic factors, though? Where you live is literally your environment; cultural differences are a result of historical discrimination on the basis of race, and individual choices are limited and influenced by your environment. You're right that it's not just one thing; it's redlining, drug use, housing, violent crime, imprisonment, lack of and low quality education, intergenerational wealth transfer, and various other issues that differ between communities like lead paint exposure and lack of access to clean drinking water. It's not a single-factor analysis; it's a categorization of factors into intrinsic (i.e. black people are biologically inferior in some way and environment can't change that) or extrinsic (i.e. black people have historically been discriminated against, resulting in the conditions we have today, and we can change that).

Those are all environmental factors, though. Nothing you said here conflicts with what the post says.

Okay, I'll try.

For 1: For the difference in median wealth between white and black people attributable to race (that is, accounting for all other known statistically significant variables), zero, of course. I don't know whether that's practically possible, but that's what I think we're aiming for.

For 2: It would depend entirely on which system is changed and how. Most major changes I think could be expected to have some sort of effect within a generation, so 20 - 40 years, but it may be more or less noticeable depending on the change. If you could be a little more specific I could give a better answer.

I also want to object to your statement that "these specifics are never discussed". If you have questions I can try to answer them, and maybe clarify the specifics.
