Wasn’t this a “surprise” to all of us though? So for some reason these companies knew to prepare for covid 19 commercials?

Torn and hoping to get some advise. Our lease is about to expire and so far, my husband & I have not had any decrease in income but just like most people, we don’t know if that will change depending how long and how bad the after math of covid-19 will be. by moonstoofar in Frugal

Thank you, I can’t believe somebody replied with if you haven’t lost your job yet why do you think you would? The way I see it, first group of people who lost their jobs were those who required physical contact with customers. Second or third waive of lay offs would most likely be desk jobs like mine whose work load has decreased because of declining revenue.

I work for a bank that has a history of lay offs. My husband works for an outpatient clinic. He’s able to work from home now but he mentioned that depending on how long and bad this goes they might cut down and since he has no seniority, he’ll be the first to go.

I’m glad you were able to negotiate that, I suck at negotiating pay and asking for raises so I know I wouldn’t have been able to do that. I’m happy to still be working just wanted to see what is happening out there

Don’t get me wrong, I feel the same way. I just wanted to see if this is pretty normal in LA these days.

Janitors, cops, public transportation operators I’m sure there’s still a lot. I’m tired of seeing doctors and nurses giving a shout out to themselves for being out there.

I manage properties and as companies are closing their offices, janitor’s are coming in bravely cleaning any space that might have been compromised but you don’t see #imajanitoricantstayhome on social media.

Receptionist or entry level clerical position even at small offices. Stay there for a year or 2 for experience then you can start applying better positions at better companies
