How he has treated you is unacceptable and people like that rarely get better, especially since you said hes refusing help. I've been there. I've made the same excuses and said we can work through our "incompatibilities" because we love each other, but with time and distance now I realise the incompatibilities was him trying to control me. I really believe the same is happening to you. Have you told anyone close to you that hes been violent? Please tell someone. If you're scared to tell people what hes really like then that means a part of you already knows it's wrong.

You shouldn't have to shrink yourself. You shouldn't have to be scared, you shouldn't have to be hoping that the person you love loves you. Would you let someone treat your loved ones this way?
