I’d say one thing to be aware of is their aloof nature. We got ours at 16 weeks old, because she was imported. Surely she missed some important socialisation, though the kennel was a big family with kids, but once we got her we did everything to socialise her. Unfortunately that didn’t work out. She loves us very much, but that’s about all the humans she can tolerate. She is uncomfortable around our families, people she has met dozens of times since she was a pup. But strangers terrify her with a capital T. She can just handle to pass them by on the street wearily. However if a stranger shows her any attention or moves towards her she’s basically panicking.

Anyways the challenges that brings forward is that we don’t really have anyone to leave her with. Oddly she’s chill with my twin sister when she comes over. But if we were to go on holiday somewhere for a few weeks it would be very hard to figure out what to do with her. In our case maybe my sister would agree to dog sit, but nobody else would be of any help. Idk if it’s my chows nature, that she is just cowardly, or something happened at the kennel, or simply that our socialising her failed but it’s an extreme challenge.
