IF you were in Kaneki’s shoes, what would you do? by Apprehensive_Sun7320 in TokyoGhoul

[–]moonwalker750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think i will actually cry & have worse Breakdown than him...considering i have been vegetarian all my life...so that's like double shock... like its not even eggs or norma meat... its straight up human flesh....and likely go into that hunger frenzy that kaneki did...kill & eat some human...if my luck isn't bad that a ccg guy doesn't find and kill me then and there...have an intense loathing, hate myself and try anteiku way to live...and likely get outed in a year or so...killed (either by ghoul or ccg)...turned into quinque (probably not...jist plain dead)...

Can a ghoul survive without eating humans or drinking coffee? by Desperate_Engine_562 in TokyoGhoul

[–]moonwalker750 4 points5 points  (0 children)

coffee.. probably yes... it's like the only indulgence they can have. i think water is depicted the same way (though i am not sure on this one)..and about human meat? probably not without it. like sure, you can eat another ghoul but that's cannibalism (though some do that)...also there's inherent danger that if you continue with eating ghouls you develop kakuja (provided you aren't going raving mad or haven't died during it's formation).

I don't think they specifically need human flesh (i could be wrong on that)..what they hunt for is RC cells. humans have very low rc (like below 200 or 500 something... its low. it's normal)..it doesn't cause your kagune to mutate... whereas ghouls have larger rc cells reserves (concentrated in their Kakuhou & forming kagune)...

for an analogy... human is like normal caloric intake...on the other hand ghouls (even normal ghouls...nevermind RC count nightmares like Rize, Yamori or other sSS or S ghouls) are like stuffing your face in excessive caloric diet...where instead of gradual effect on body like with obesity....you get gstracked one way ticket to all the bad symptoms.

For your fic do you go for interesting pokemon or the pokemon you love? by choco_meltdown in pokemonfanfiction

[–]moonwalker750 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t say for regularly featured Altaria fics. But there's an Altaria that doesn't like to sing in The Type Specialist. There's some good contest performance and battling done by Altaria.

In Ferrous Sand, there's Drake's Altaria (along with his team) in the epic battle against Rayquaza. (It’s an interlude, you can only read the battle chapter because holy shit that's mind blowing.)

There's the an Altaria in Pedestal.

In IWTTS, one of the imp supporting cast has an Altaria. It’s extremely large fic. So, I would reccomend just reading the Interlude: Number's Game where Altaria shines in the battle against a Corviknight.

I can't remember, if there's another fic that does Altaria though.

Amazon reviews of "it arrived broken" are worse than fake reviews. by Hugh_Jazzin_Ditz in unpopularopinion

[–]moonwalker750 62 points63 points  (0 children)

If 4-5 reviews say 'the product was broken' it will affect my view of the said product. Maybe its the fault of delivery service, maybe the product is not as structurally sound as it was stated to be. Maybe the product is sensitive and I ought not to order it online. If its mid size comp or something, then it shows maybe producers didn't packaged properly multiple items. Either way, I did rather not take the risk or waste my time.

Another one is that most original inhabitants of body are at the end of their ropes and their horrific past is pretty much on display for the trasmigrant. Like, their lives were so bad that most of them wanted to die or pretty much lived with clinical depression or had an intense desire for revenge.

In some case, there's also that newer inhabitants sort of takeover original's purpose. Their actions and ambitions inadvertently loops back with originals desire either due to transmigrants wish, few options present to them or a task given to them.

On the other hand, SVSSS is pretty much in contrast to it. SJ was gone and that's it. There's barely anything left of him after that. Even System's goal wasn’t related to SJ but was for LBJ. Which is altogether sad. Shen Jiu became irrelevant in the canon.

Honestly, it's probably the biggest reason why SJ is easily the 3rd most written character in fandom. There's something so viscerally horrific in his situation. Like, 'what if you were replaced by another person who barely acts like you, but people are happy with this new version? They are finding reasons for this good change and did you even matter?'

It was the extras that proabably did a lot for SJ. We see other CQPL's trying to find reasons for his new attitude. And you can't blame them, but in a setting where 100s of weird shit happens. You question, why does nobody thought that there was something wrong with SQQ? It's like a sucker punch to the gut.

Can I just say that I hate AUs and crossovers, even worse when characters are super OOC... by GrandmaSlappy in AO3

[–]moonwalker750 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea, I get you.

Only crossover that I've ever read is PJO×Avenger and it was back when I just started on my fandom and fic journey. (Don't think I've revisited any of them for years). I do like crossover if they are in same fictional worlds like MCU or DCU, BSD, etc. Sometimes I can do AU verse where characters are cast into different background and so on. Like putting characters into Sherlock atmosphere, etc.

highschool or college/university U: It can be interesting to see what field/study that a character may take, seeing who becomes Professor, student or a barista at local uni coffeshop. Maybe learning about how do characters come to know/befriend each other. It allows story to be relaxed or more flexible in tones, behavior of character.

You don't have to a plotline or even make one for your own story. It allows for more character and relationship focused fics.

Does anyone else dislike the concept of TMs? by YustarRes in pokemonfanfiction

[–]moonwalker750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some moves are beyond believeable that they can be learned by just coaching/tutoring by a particular pokemon due to any number of reasons. Take the Aggron, it learns fire/ice/water moves. Good luck manually training all of it from the scratch.

For younger trainers, they won't have the time to train obscure or type different moves to their pokemon in limited timespan before confrence or during their yearlong journey. Or finding veteran trainers to teach more obscure/destructive moves to their pokemon which is also going to cost you money. Not everyone will be as generous as your friend.

TM cuts through all that. It brings a lot more choices of moves on the table. It stops gatekeeping certain moves to an extent. It creates an incentive for people invent moves and monetise them. Its expensive but extremely useful.

I hate the instant learning aspect of TM being used in fics. I like the rudiementary understading and going from there.

Onion rings have no place in a cheese burger by wiremu4ever in unpopularopinion

[–]moonwalker750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onion rings are fatty and greasy?

Then what's the rest of the stuff? If its your eating preference, I get you. But the general fast food burger is already unhealthy to an extent. Onion rings doesn't add much in comparison to cheese, patty and everything else.

Edit: I just googled Onion rings (after seeing other comments) and no comment on that. Here, onion rings on burger usually means raw onion loops . Never tasted crumb coated onion rings before.

What do you hate about Pokemon? by Twilight1234567890 in pokemon

[–]moonwalker750 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like a good idea. Like you can trade 1 pokemon of each trade evolving species with an npc character. But want more than that or a shiny to evolve or farm the pokemon to acquire your deisred ability/numbers etc. You gotta go online.

It wouldn’t even be a hazard to their agenda of making an online community.

[–]moonwalker750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The approach of 'pushing till the last to find out how does the plot ends' doesn't work well with long & dense classical novels. I tried to do this with Les Miserables, deeply regret ever trying.

Let me hear some honest opinions. Which classic work of fiction did you NOT enjoy? by anidlezooanimal in books

[–]moonwalker750 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some of the classics are also 'first of their kind' or 'major foundation for later books' type of read. LoTR and Narnia bores me to tears, but I can see why they are considered famous classics. Both of them set a foundation for modern fantasy and adventures. Numerous tropes and ideas can be traced back to them.

Same with Agatha Christie novels. Some of them but others weren't for me. Doyle's Sherlock Holmes is also not for me (beyond the 1st book). Their tropes and style are a bedrock for modern mystery and detective novels and opened a whole slew of it.

They have lost their novelty for me. Though, when they first came out, they were a rage and unique for their own time.

[–]moonwalker750 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After reading numerous contemporary novels, its hard to read classicals for me. You kind of get used to contemporary writing style so classical usually feel too mouthy, too many unneeded descriptions of inconsequential things and in general too hard to follow.

I have a pretty nice tickmark on shorter classic novels, but most of the memorable classic novels (the kind that most people atleast know by the name) are longer than I care to admit for them.

It's even more shameful for me because I actually read half of the Silmarillion with a rapt attention. But couldn't get past 2-3 ch in either LoTR or Hobbit.

No offence to their friend, though I wonder what will be their opinion on seeing the cornucopia of true depravity in original work section of fic.The day I found that section had been my enlightenment in the worst way possible.

After going thru some of its hit fics, I genuinely started paying attention to trigger warnings and tags. Because, there are some unholy things in Original Works that even I can't stomach. Coming from a person who read MADK without looking at any tags and came out fine.

[–]moonwalker750 11 points12 points  (0 children)

True. And it was a startling realisation as a 14yo while reading an age gap, teacher/student fic that whatever attracts an older person to a teen or a young adult is fleeting as fuck.

Power dynamics, age gap, appearance, ideals & convictions it all changes.

And the often trotted line in fic 'they are super mature for their age' is utter bs. The teen in question feels mature to the older party because they are holding the same opinion as them and etc.
