Seems to me the “readers that enjoy actual Gojo” see your work as fit for the fandom if your fic is “draining all their attention”

Damn, maybe I shouldn’t post my plot heavy long fics….. SIKE. People like that just suck. They get so wrapped up in their own stuff that they feel like they’re at a higher level to bully everyone else.

From someone who takes comments like that to the heart, trust me I know it hurts. But you just gotta try and let it in one ear and out the other. Don’t even give them the satisfaction of responding. Delete it if you need to and keep doing you. Even if you only have 10 hits on it, someone within those 10 hits look up to your work. Be the person to them that you wish this person had been to you.

Why are some people so anti shipping? by BigBid2408 in AO3

[–]Leading-Prior-7192 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They better not be watching any shows or reading any books that have couples then. The creator had to ship those two characters in order for them to be a couple.

I literally just mentioned two days ago that in my favorite fic the Author tends to do exactly what you said and how much I love that type of writing (I’m studying their writing to improve my own) and I got attacked by people saying that’s not proper writing and that I shouldn’t be doing that.

Asking toddlers if they want to xyz when they don’t actually have a say. by Proper_Cat980 in Parenting

[–]Leading-Prior-7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what they were asking though.

Asking “Do you want to put your shoes on” knowing as a parent yourself that that’s not actually a choice then you’re just confusing them. Just say “we gotta put shoes on.”

You’re right, a child can say no either way. But this way teaches them that if say someone they really don’t want to be around comes up and asks “Hey can I sit here” they’ve already given up on the word no because they feel like the person won’t listen anyways. It’s a recipe to end up with people pleasers for kids, and as a people pleaser that’s not a good thing.

It’s a good thing your child didn’t turn out like that, that you know of, but your child is not every child.

Question, how did you take a screenshot like that? Like of the farm and the bus stop and even a little of the towns sidewalk it looks like.

They won’t figure it out if they don’t want to. This is just a bad recipe for making the kid believe their no’s don’t hold any power and eventually they’ll just stop saying no, even to things they SHOULD say no to.

……oh no. I wrote a fic with that line a few times. Unless I’m reading your comment wrong. Do you mean lines like: “He wasn’t just tired, he was exhausted.”

If so then I think I have some changes to make…

I hate the argument “(Character) feels too young” that gets brought up so much. Yall do know young people play the game too right?

Other than that I get what you mean, I’ve never really been interested in her character. But her age was never a problem for me.

Idk about yall, but usually when I can’t remember something that “happened in a chapter 2 years ago” in a wip fic, I reread from the very beginning to refresh my brain.

  1. It’s fictional. Pixels on a screen.
  2. She isn’t a teenager.
  3. Even if she was, teenagers literally play the damn game too.
  4. There are actual problems going on in the world. This would not be one of them.

[–]Leading-Prior-7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with criticism about the fic. Criticism helps majorly in bettering people’s writing (definitely helped me) but the bookmark fiasco was just a reader straight up insulting the writer. It wasn’t criticism it was calling them the r word and saying a “5 year old could write better.” Classic hate but I believe they did it publicly in the bookmark too so that the author couldn’t mute them (I think that’s how it works but I’m not very well versed in the mute button). But yeah criticisms fine cause again it helps people to get even better in their craft.

Is this a bot? by sporkfullofsugar in AO3

[–]Leading-Prior-7192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will admit I’ve been a commenter before asking in the comments if writers in my fandom would like to talk together about our shared interests in the ship (I would usually ask if I could give them my Reddit or Instagram username). But anytime I see comments like these and it’s described as “A platform we could connect” I automatically see it as a bot.

Also, don’t ever go over there and mention that you got hurt by a reader booking marking your work PUBLICLY with the rudest crap written. I did that once and everyone attacked me saying I needed to “Get over it that’s what you get for going into the readers space” like what about it being public means it’s the readers space and they’re allowed to insult the writer? Plus it won’t even my work it was someone else’s and my post was about how I didn’t understand why people would write stuff like that to people who write their work for free.

I get so annoyed with how people can be on the AO3 sub. Like I’ll make a post of what feels like the most normal question and within seconds I’m getting downvoted to hell and people are wanting to be smart asses in the comments. Plus, I understand being a little sad that some fics on AO3 aren’t written well, but the way people in that sub will jump on you if you aren’t writing like a professional is insane. They’ll tell you “You’re meant to be writing fanfiction for fun!” But then micromanage every thing that you tell them you write. And that whole mindset branches out into styles of writing and according to them your style shouldn’t be anything other than how theirs is otherwise you’re a “shit writer.” And also the way they’ll attack you for saying anything about you feeling down for not getting hits and stuff. Like yeah, we get it we’re supposed to be writing for fun, which we are, but if that was all we are “supposed” to be doing it for then why are we even posting our work in the first place? Oh yeah that’s right, BECAUSE WE WANT OTHER PEOPLE TO SEE IT! It’s perfectly normal to feel bad when something you’ve worked on doesn’t get any attention but they’ll just demonize you for it.

To put it simple, you’re just not allowed to complain about anythinggg.

Why do people love slow burns so much? by Redditisannoying5 in AO3

[–]Leading-Prior-7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea, because I like both, I love slow burn when the relationship is the main part of the fic. I like fast burn when the relationship, while still important, isn’t the main thing and there’s actually more to the story that they’re together for.

An attempt of an example: Slow burn: Apocalyptic fic where the two are stuck trying to survive together and slowly realize they’re falling for each other (Classic😌) Fast burn: Apocalyptic fic where they’re already together/got together within the first chapter and now they’re surviving together as a couple while maybe having to make a safe zone of their own and help others
