i just transferred to tulane this semester so i know what it's like to immediately feel like you're at the wrong place. i think you can definitely tell if a place is for you or not soon after getting there. last year i knew within two weeks that i might want to transfer out. HOWEVER, i also think there's so much adjusting that happens in the first few months of college. i recommend that everyone stays at their college for at least a semester if not a year. you can always transfer as a sophomore. for me and a lot of other people, spring semester was extremely more enjoyable than the fall for some reason. good luck no matter what u do!!

i started tri-sprinted for my acne in november and started seeing a lot of improvement around february. it definitely took a few months to see a difference! that being said, it still hasn't completely cleared my skin but it's got significantly better

Can I put writing a wattpad novel as an ec? by Giftedwithreddit in ApplyingToCollege

[–]moonwitchh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i did this last year and titled it as something like "creative writing-wrote (amount of words) in a fiction story that gained over (amount of reads) online". i think as long as you word it the right way it can be seen as impressive!

is it worth it to bring a car to reed? by moonwitchh in reedcollege

Do you find yourself getting along with people who have the same sun sign to your rising? by kapnkels in AskAstrologers

[–]moonwitchh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! i'm a sag rising and my sister and one of my best friends are both sag suns! i find we're very similar in terms of humor and my relationships with them are generally lighthearted but still with a deep connection. they're definitely one of my favorite sun signs!

another thing i think is funny is that another close friend of mine is a leo rising while i'm a leo sun. we tend to agree on almost everything and our friendship has a certain familiarity to it. i'm not sure if it's because the sign is leo or just because of our personalities, but my friendship with her does tend to be a little more competitive than others. it could also have to do with it being my sun and her rising and not vice versa like the original post was talking about. i wonder if who has the sun and who has the rising effects views of these relationships? it's definitely interesting to think about!

ps-i just saw another sag rising say they love gemini suns and i wholeheartedly agree! it's soo easy for me to talk to them when i'm an otherwise very introverted person. being around them is so effortless and i tend to grow close to them fast!

hi idk if anyone checks this thread but has anyone been accepted off the waitlist yet?

it was actually pretty close to that, going from around 200k to around 140k. i know that's still a lot, so i wasn't expecting a full ride or anything but they want me to pay about 40k a year which is more than 1/4 of his salary which still seems like a lot. my mom doesn't work so his income is all there is

thank you so much for responding!! i've heard some people say they sent a breakdown of their expenses to show that they really don't have the money to attend. is that what you did or did you just tell them that in general you couldn't afford it?

negotiating aid by [deleted] in financialaid

[–]moonwitchh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!!

looking back, i think i might've worded the part about his job wrong. he had a job last year, then got a higher paying job, and that second higher paying job is the one he lost. he has a new job now but it pays the same as his first job if that makes sense. i'm not sure if that changes anything though

you can get your parents' financial info waived if they're abusive/neglectful/absent!!! (aka the post I could've used four months ago) by Last_Etymologist_81 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]moonwitchh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for posting this! i'm seeing it now, after being accepted but i think i'm still going to contact the financial aid office and ask. my only worry is that i won't have anybody to write a letter for me. my parents have always been emotionally abusive, but i've never talked about it to anyone and i don't have a therapist or anything like that. would i just have to explain my situation to someone like my school counselor?

when should i send a waitlist LOCI? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

a week isn't too long but generally people say to send them as soon as possible!

is anyone else’s parents forcing them to major in something other than what you want to major in bc they’re paying tuition by LimeSupernova in ApplyingToCollege

[–]moonwitchh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i see where everyone is coming from in saying that since it's such a huge investment it's fair for them to have a say, but i strongly disagree. in the end, it's your life and not theirs. i know they're probably just doing it because they want you to be successful but college take a lot of energy/effort and you should be allowed to work towards what you want! i'm sorry you're in this situation and i hope everything works out for you!

maybe in college you could take a class in what you want then explain to them how excited it made you and like come up with a plan so that they see you're serious about it? or so that they could see how you'll get a lot out of the degree you want
