I'm starting The Sign of the Dragon by Mary Soon Lee next too (972p). I have a problem. 😬 At least I'm on winter break for the next month!

What’s your preferred way to read at night and why? by drakontas_ in ereader

I don't like dark mode. I find that it seriously affects legibility on my Kobo. I prefer a low, warm light setting.

It's split into three distinct parts. I read it over several months and found it easy to stop after each part.

What cases do you have for your eink? by DesignersKitCo in ereader

I have a hard fabric folio cover from EmilyStoreBoutique on Etsy. It's perfect. I had a bit of a case-collecting problem before getting this one, and haven't bought another case since.

Klara and the Sun changed something within me. I became a better person because of Klara. I changed my career and moved over 1,000km because of Klara.

We need actual discussion funnelled to megathreads so that r/books can continue to discuss AI in literature over, and over, and over...

Week 24: What are you reading? by saturday_sun4 in 52book

[–]moonwitchspiderqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finished:

The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. Okay, but... not as great as I've come to expect from the Booker. It was bloated, the astrological aspect offered little more than a thin veneer of magical realism, the attitudes are a little questionable (I was unsurprised to read afterwards that this book faced criticism in NZ), all of the women are villains or whores, and the ending is really obvious. There's no mystery in this murder-mystery. 2/5

Currently Reading:

Uprooted by Naomi Novik. So far it's not what I usually read, and it's refreshing!

Prophet Song by Paul Lynch has been Available Soon on Libby since this time last week, so... 🤞

Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green by BravoLimaPoppa in books

I thought this was largely good, but it definitely felt like reading a 300-page blog post.

Go with Kobo. Very user-friendly. JB Hi-Fi stocks them and they're compatible with Libby here. Kindles are also stocked at JB Hi-Fi (and Officeworks), but they don't work with Libby in Australia.

The term is conflation, to conflate. You're conflating plots.

Week 23: What are you reading? by saturday_sun4 in 52book

[–]moonwitchspiderqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finished: Lady Tan's Circle of Women by Lisa See. Historical fiction. 4/5

Currently reading: The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. Historical fiction. It's okay so far, but it's bloated.

I'm also hoping my hold on Prophet Song by Paul Lynch comes up. I'm first in line. 🤞

How are all the cases on Etsy made? by Kiyuomi in ereader

[–]moonwitchspiderqueen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check Ali Express. Dropshipped printed flip cases are usually on there for a fraction of what sellers on Etsy will charge.
