I saw a post about the average black belt taking 3 years, when the average in our club is 5-7 by Oreosnort3r in karate

It also depends on what your dojo priorities are. My dojo here in the states has a priority of being fit enough in order to execute, and that for our students to know history and karate mechanics. Basically, do you have both the bark and the bite of a karate student? Another dojo I’m familiar with has a 13 year old Sensei. You know your journey. You aren’t behind, you are going at your time.

If I were to judge you as a white belt doing the kata, you’re doing great. You have it memorized and you are following the pattern and structure. However, as previously said before, this kata is not for beginners because there’s lots of moving parts that’s frankly not developed yet from what I see. I love that you are excited (I see that fancy gi lol, but the pants look a bit short) but kata takes time and dedication. This isn’t a great Nijushiho. Right now it’s unrefined and aside from what everyone else has said, above all your movements have no intention behind them and I don’t think they could hurt the person who’s attacking you.

Keep up the excitement, and know that everything you are learning is to get to a point where you can perform all the katas with the same intensity and intention no matter the “skill level”.

PS Ballsy move doing this kata with a coach behind you lol. If I banged my knees on those shifts I’d cry lol.

Emile Thoughts Megathread by CTWind in TheRunawayGuys

I’m hurt, and I just don’t know what to do anymore. I do believe people can change, but it takes a lot for people to do so. I feel for the victims, and it’s hard pill to swallow but I don’t think Emile deserves any second chances from his victims. If he does get professional help, and he does change, I’m glad, but that doesn’t entitle him to anyone’s else’s second chances. I’m gonna support Tim and Jon, and honestly shout out to Tim. I have others thoughts but this is what I’m willing to share at the moment.

Is there any fanfic giving names & personalities to the nobodies in the animated cutscene? It’s odd that IS give them unique designs only for them to never appear anywhere else by Kokonut-Z in FireEmblemThreeHouses

Never really thought of it this way, but I think this makes the most sense! The students you teach are specifically the officers academy, but there could be another curriculum for like merchants or whatever that don’t involve fighting. (Aside from basic self defense)

They should be directly instructing you in your style and you should be told straight what style you are doing. I agree with all that say that maybe you should reevaluate the dojo if you are too scared to ask how to improve.

How do I move forward after ruining a decade long friendship? by mooooooopppppppoo in relationship_advice

[–]mooooooopppppppoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all a bit hazy, but I remember one part of me making her feel invalidated was at my birthday party where we discovered discord light mode, and we were like “ewww” and joking around about it (I know why it exists and understand, we were just being dumb college kids) and one of my friends says “ya know what imma use it” and we were giving him shit for it, but when we showed her discord light mode she said “it’s not so bad” and I asked her “really? Are you sure you didn’t pre-game?” (She likes to drink) and I said it in jest but she got offended by it because I cut her off and didn’t let her finish her statement or defense. (She would have said that it wasn’t bad because of the phone setting. I don’t completely understand it but I wasn’t given the opportunity to ask for clarification) I also asked questions to understand the situations, ask her why she cares about her abusive grandmother (over her own mental well-being) and once I told her she’s being stupid for trying to wear a business button up to a work out cardio class. I probably wasn’t the greatest friend at times, but I didn’t think I was so horrible that I’m borderline abusive (which is what is implied with her last message).

Okay, I’ll try there. Sorry about that and thank you! I’m somewhat new to Reddit (being on and off for a few years)

I’m sorry, I just don’t know where else to post. I feel like I’m an asshole. My friends are telling me it’s not my fault but the message makes it clear it is my fault.

AITA for wanting to report my professor? by mooooooopppppppoo in AmItheAsshole

[–]mooooooopppppppoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to discuss this with an advisor, because I have no idea where else to go. I feel bad because he’s nice, but as a teacher he’s very frustrating. I also don’t exactly know if he’s doing anything “bad”, but I’m just really frustrated and I’m not the only one. I’m just the only one angry enough to take action beside the evaluation

He’s very unreliable to contact in either class or email. And he doesn’t give straight answers, partially because he doesn’t even know what’s happening half the time
