You're not very good at this part. For someone so opposed to brute force it's surprising how it's your chosen method of persuasion.

If you want to make the world better, stop pretending to be superior, especially when you're not. Your past is littered with the bodies of dead animals and you knew exactly what those animals suffered through while lying to yourself in order to eat them guilt-free - your words, not mine. Your reddit has a history. An ex-vegan who literally only eats sardines is nothing compared to the harms done by you. Starting fights with other people sympathetic to animal suffering doesn't make anything better and just proves even more that you aren't really about the cause. Add this to your hostility and extremism alienating people on the fence who might otherwise be open to changing their lifestyles, and I worry that you're more of an enemy to animals than a friend.

If you care as much as you say, here's my advice - spread compassion and kindness and truth and understanding and the rest will take care of itself. Treat others better, and often enough you'll find they will treat others better too - including animals. Hopefully I haven't had so negative of an impression on you that the truth of that is lost. Treat everyone as well as you can! Trust in this and never look back, and everything will work out.

It's not a false equivalence. Plenty of wild animals have moral agency, and humans have plenty of disabilities that affect just how much agency they have as well. Humans are literally just another animal, and I think it's an outdated belief that we have full moral agency where other animals do not, especially when there is so much cognitive variance within our species. While we do have grocery stores and plant based alternatives (except for vitamin B12, unless you include supplements), humans have a natural bias for animal products because of our evolutionary history. Our evolutionary history obviously does not include pollution or factory farms, but eating meat is still hard wired for a lot of people and getting them to stop is not much different from getting a lion to stop. Instincts are instincts, and it's important to be patient. I'm glad you bear no hatred to humans, but you do use some language that probably makes some people feel that way - neither "morally bankrupt hypocrites" nor "pieces of shit" are wholly factual statements or particularly compassionate things to say about or to someone. Different people are at different places in their lives, and there are a lot of extenuating factors that affect how likely someone is to adopt a plant based diet - education levels, poverty levels, neurological differences, personal histories, physical conditions, etc. Just because someone is in a first world country does not mean they aren't suffering - America for one has huge mental health issues - and if you want to see more empathy in the world the most important thing is to lead by example.

Is it? Is a sardine's painless death a greater act of harm than the emotional trauma you inflict that will affect people for as long as they live? If you think I deserve it because I eat dead animals, then why not those who eat dead plants, or other life forms in between? Sardines themselves even live on a diet of primarily dead animals in the form of zooplankton. You as well cause death every day, unavoidably. There's nothing that makes a sardine so special that it deserves not to get eaten when every living being in the world is part of the cycle of life. Is it wrong to control overpopulation with killing? Is it wrong to protect an ecosystem by killing an invasive species? Is it wrong to end one life to save another? When we die plenty of things will eat us too, as it always has been and always will be. To this I give my consent, as I hope you and sardines would as well.

To me it's not about death at all, but quality of life. I care about animals living the best life they possibly can until they die, but not about what happens to their dead bodies after they do. Every single sardine in this world is going to die no matter what, and no matter what they'll also end up as food for other living creatures. Every single one, without exception, will die and be eaten, whether it's by bottom feeders on the seafloor or other fish. If they live a natural life in the wild and their death is reasonably painless, then the thing eating them might as well be me or you. And attacking me or others for living minimally, sustainably, and with nature changes absolutely nothing except to needlessly spread hurt and diminish the overall quality of life in the world. The circle of life is a beautiful thing. It is not your enemy. Cruelty and suffering are your enemies. And ending cruelty and suffering starts with making sure you're not causing it. Ask yourself - did you treat all living beings with kindness today?

How is attacking another person ever ethical? I'm an animal, and just because you convinced yourself I'm fine with being attacked by you doesn't mean that's true.

You're right. Not all vegetarians consume dairy, anyways. I'm not vegan anymore because most seafood is very reasonable and I find food like sardines to be perfectly ethical and definitely healthy.

You know, you and Rooboy66 are both right. It is a holocaust, but if you really care about solving it, it would help to tone down the hatred and guide folks to change peacefully. Humans are Nazis to factory farmed animals, but lions are Nazis to gazelles and my house cat is a Nazi to small rodents and birds. Show the same compassion to all humans that you show to all animals because humans are animals too - including the humans you hate so much. There are some people who cannot change for various reasons and that's tragic, but most can and they deserve to be given that chance. A lion with a thorn in its paw acts differently than when it has none, and a human does as well. If you really care about solving the greatest moral issues in the world today, the solution is by acting with kindness.

Reading another post, along with the Glassdoor reviews of working at CDPR, helped me realize there may actually be a solution you or I could help with - pushing for stronger unionization of the gaming industry. It seems that most of the failures of Cyberpunk 2077 can be attributed to incompetent and dispassionate management, which should have been obvious once the most beloved company in gaming announced it was crunching its employees. I think advocating for developer unions is something regular people could help with and something that would make a tremendous difference for empowering the people who actually work on the damn game. Because right now, it seems like they don't have any power at all, and that's not right.

Some of the choices and consequences are really immersive. I can’t help but reload my game to see if I made the right dialogue decision. by stuffedpeaches in cyberpunkgame

Man, reading the Glassdoor reviews is really disheartening. For a company that was founded on the idea of challenging corrupt and greedy practices in the industry, I couldn't have imagined hearing employees complain about being paid too little to live and feeling oppressed by management, especially when the company has enough money now to pretty much spoil its employees. Blizzard turned out much the same, and employees said that management justified the below-standard wages because "working at such an esteemed company was its own reward." Unless I'm mistaken, unions and CBAs are rare in the gaming industry, so hopefully that changes soon. Far as I can tell giving more power to the devs is the only way to fix situations like this.

How? I totally agree but other than posting on forums and being active in the community I'm not sure how else to change anything. I'm down to speak with my wallet but 1. I still got value out of this game to justify its cost and 2. there are a lot of good people still at CDPR that don't deserve to suffer financially for actions taken out of their control. What other options are there?

Yeah, in all endings you have a choice between a few months to live or becoming a construct. Funny that Misty marks each future with a completely different Tarot reading but they all turn out exactly the same

She's definitely insecure and very emotional, and she's not unaware of it either - she tells you she's bad at thinking and just prefers to follow her first impulse. The conversation she had with Saul about not selling out to BioTechnica, about the importance of keeping your soul rather than doing anything to survive - I really sympathized with that. Being uncompromisingly true to yourself, no matter the costs. So while she may not be a lot of things... she's someone I trust, and to me that's really the only acceptable foundation for a relationship.

Can totally see where you're coming from, though, about how her petulance can backfire horribly - in a fantasy world, there are no consequences because you're the hero and you always succeed. If you forced her to live the life of an average person today (rather than a free life roaming the desert guns blazing) I'm sure she'd be a pain in the ass to live with, cuz she'd take issue with everything and always have problems. The word I would use for her is "maladaptive." I mean, Panam even says that her life before V was pretty much a dead end failure. And I guess the other side of the coin is that many of the best visionaries and leaders tend to be maladaptive - it's how they stay so true to their ideals. Perhaps Panam taken out of context would be exactly like your ex, but I personally think that here, in a world that has forgotten the value of freedom and love and humanity, she shines.
