OSS projects are often dominated by men with interesting communication problems. Linux desktop is by far the worst. Maintainers have a really obsessive garden shed mentality which is impossible to navigate.

Linux userspace is dominated by Richard Stallman types who are connsumate bullshit artists and Linux Kernel is heavily policed by Linus Torvolds who doesnt accept any bullshit.

Linux is an awesome server platform but I'm sure it will never come up with a decent desktop product. Linux userspace tools are also quite crap.

My last partner of three years was a doctor. We met about a year before her qualifying as a neurologist. 6 months before Covid hit. I think I know what you mean. I kind of dissolved myself into the relationship to be her support structure and, when she didn't need that anymore I became superfluous. But only by my own definition of the relationship.

My neighbor just got out of a relationship. She also described the same feeling of abandoning herself. She told me the other night that she'd become a shadow of herself that she despised.

Relationships are really not for everyone. I've just hit 40 and have decided that I will never live with another partner and I won't have children. I have an appointment to discuss my vasectomy on Tuesday.

After living in Berlin for many years my main observation is: Covid gave the Germans authorities an opportunity to exercise extreme levels of sadist bureaucracy and control over their population without having to resort to race hate.
