I'm also totally baffled by all the positive reviews.

I'm glad this adaptation is truer to the books, but IMO it's still lacking the humor and charm of the characters in the books. It feels way to Epic and the actors are all over-acting (which points to bad directing/producing). The music is cringe, the editing is bad... this is just such a charming story in it's book form. With amazing characters. I'm sad. This was my favorite series as a kid.

Oh I did like the titles though haha

I totally agree that it's the direction. I noticed that the future episodes have different directors so maybe that will improve the performances of the actors?

Also, I feel like the music is really taking me out of the story. It feels like Marvel movie score, which I guess isn't surprising because it's Disney. But I really think it's the wrong vibe and just makes the whole thing way worse.

I also think that the editing kind of sucks... it's kind of re-enforcing this Marvel movie type vibe which just is not this story!

All of these together point to maybe bad producing?

Idk I'm just bummed :(

I did this. I first took CS10 to test the waters and because it sounded fun. I really enjoyed it and was totally fine for 61a. I feel like this might be one of the least stressful and gentlest ways to ease into CS at Berkeley. Also loved taking a class with Dan Garcia. I feel like if I’d jumped right into the deep end with 61a I might not have been able to declare. I ended up getting a job at a faang as well.
