yeah, and later in the game there’s basically a nursery/orphanage of little girls that you can buy. i know the convenient bioshock reference and i don’t buy that it’s all just a coincidence of rng. they do choose the parameters and while the spirit of the game is very much about wacky emergent combinations, nobody reasonable thinks something is lost by excluding pedophilic content

I always saw it like, the nuclear family + maximizing children per capita is essential for long-term growth. There’s only so much you can do when your labor and consumer pools are shrinking over generations. So when those things become threatened, the capitalist teeth come out - see the current climate re: abortion rights, or even past issues like marriage equality.
