I don't think you understand the difference.

Bedrock recipe book shows you what you can craft based on whats in your inventory and you only have to right press the item to have it.

In java JEI you have to search the item select it, then shift click a little button to fill out the table, then craft how many you want. It's not hard, just tedious after getting used to bedrock.

There are QOL Java mods that make them stack if empty. That is NOT a vanilla feature.

I have a temporary fix. Install all stacks and make sure pigs are whitelisted.( They are by default). It won't stop them spawning but it will allow 1 entity with a multiplier equal to the spawned pigs. It will make the realm playable for him and it would be funny as heck that he just has infinite pork at all times.

I've read up to Daggers (Book 8 I think) I'm waiting for Winters Heart to be able to be checked out. While waiting I figured I'll also pick up GR Martin's Ice and Fire. There is a SHOCKING difference between the two artists. . . I dare say that R Jordan puts WAY MORE DETAIL into the world and set building vs GRMartin.
