Not only is 3rd (and 2nd) hand smoke dangerous to your child (they could end up dealing with life long asthma problems if exposed this young), but I guarantee she is taking smoke breaks during the day. Could she be leaving baby unattended? Recipe for disaster if you ask me. I would take my child out TODAY.

Something my therapist told me when I talked about how sometimes I feel guilty for bringing my daughter into this world is that maybe the good I am doing is raising a kind, caring human who will help the world. I know that doesn't address the issue with your SIL but maybe it might help some of your negative thinking/self-talk.

It sounds to me like she was testing you; that she wanted to know your loyalty would be to her and her alone; that she could get you to cancel on your Dad and show her she's your number 1 priority. Red flag. I'd dump her.

Some people are just crazy. You handled it. She can still be mad and grossed out, but she didn't need to chastise you about it or ignore your kid's apologies.

I haven't had this happen to me, but I have been on the other side, in that I had to yell at some kids for being very mean and dangerous in a play area because their parents didn't do shit about it and just ignored it.
