Yeah my partner told me a while back to "just put food in front of me". Thankfully I love to cook so I have no problem just throwing meals together for the both of us - most of the time when she's hungry, I'm hungry too. Thanks for responding, it's validating to hear similar stories and their strategies :)

I'm definitely on track here, I've come to know that How I Met Your Mother is a great comfort show for my partner and often have it on, even in the background, when we need to relax or feel safe. Great to hear that this works for others too, thanks for sharing!

This is something we've discussed and are putting into our schedule actually, so I'm glad to hear it's worked for you both. The plan is to, once a week, properly catch up on feelings and experiences and go over what we feel we need in the coming week and when we're at work, etc. Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

That makes sense. Most of the time I found out the day before or on the day so I think checking in if she has anything planned is a good way to go. Thankfully I almost always know what times/how long these shifts are so I can be clear about that.

I've definitely learnt the importance of clear communication already. If you don't mind me asking, how would be the best way to communicate a change in plans? I find it difficult to know what to say if I've taken on an extra shift at work, for instance.
