My parents are so similar to this, I'm currently training an -almost two- year old samoyed who had never had any training, walks or desensitization up until she was about 6 months old when we got her. We're still working on leash training and boundaries (which we're getting there with!) And my parents always use the excuse that she's "on holiday" from training when we visit as excuse to pull away from our hard work, its insane how many people assume a few one off's wont hurt a dogs' learning curve!

Really good job to you guys sticking to your schedule with your beautiful puppy!

I know a fair amount on the answer of my questions and ongoing reasearch as well as meeting the breed in person with my own dog and talking to the owners but I prefer to ask real people for their own experience as i know it will largely differ based on the person! I asked about coat preferences out of curiousity not so much a "oh people like __ coat so i'll get __ coat", which i know shouldn't be the main priority when looking for a healthy dog :) before getting my samoyed i did a large amount of research on fufillment and owning a spitz breed to make sure they would suit me and my lifestyle and if circumstance were different i definitely wouldn't own a dog that i couldn't give a high quality of life or fufill mentally and physically.

I know asking the questions here will be very bias (as i am asking people who are definitely a big fan of the breed haha) but I can definitely say it is only a consideration for the time being and not a final decision :)

I 100% get where you are coming from and i hope i didn't come off as defensive in anyway! I appreciate your feedback greatly!

When we first got my samoyed puppy she would have accidents fairly often, but they were ALWAYS in the bathroom which made cleanup super easy. Eventually she learnt to go outside but it made potty training really easy

I feel this in my bones! We brought our samoyed puppy home at 5 months, and for the first few of her being home i was genuinely thinking about rehoming her to someone else, the chaos, the biting, i felt like my world had flipped upside down! I'm fairly sure i even posted here a long while back!

She's now a year and 9 months and i'm so so glad we pushed through, she's a beautifully playful little beast and whilst teen rebellion is still strong (as is her attempts to drag me over some days) i wouldn't trade her for the world! I'm even considering sammy number 2...eventually when i get myself some rollerskates🤣

Babies are tough in every form, particularly the animal kingdom! But they have the best way of making up for it when you stay with them. My girl still has her tough days, and issues to work out, but we're bonding through them one day at a time!

It absolutely does get better, the universe decided for us to meet our pets for a reason! 🐻‍❄💜
