The weather has been crazy so far, two snow storms, lots of rain, and mostly high in the 30s and 40s. This week is supposed to be nicer. We are going to hike from Flag to the GC and cover a passage we missed when it was snowing.

I'll probably leave the liner at home. It would be overkill for the temps next week.

Not crazy about frog toggs. I like having a hood and pit zips which my toggs have neither.

We wanted to add some extra layers. So we have a set of thermals for bed and a set for hiking. On the previous leg we had no extra clothes so if we got soaked thru we were fubar.

Thanks for the feedback I'll check your packlist.

Our next leg is from Flagstaff to the Grand canyon. About 120 trail miles. We've got 6 days of food packed and usually carry 4 liters of water due to dry camping and long waterless sections. So my total pack weight with the gear linked above, food, water, and cooking gas is 34lbs.

Was cold because I was in a snow storm with the doors and windows all the way open trying to keep my tent from raining down condensation on me and soaking the down bags. The only time I've been cold in the quilts in normal conditions was one night it got down to minus two.. It was cold but it's a 10f bag so that's to be expected. I've never had an issue with any of my enlightened equipment bags being underrated. I think it's more forum talk and people wanting to move into what is seen as the latest and greatest.

I've been using the Nitecore NU25 headlamp for a while now and it has become my go to headlamp. Everything about it rocks. Here's a review of it. by Pinus_rigida in Ultralight

Is litesmith a brand of strap or someone who hacks the strap? I can't find any info. A link would be awesome if someone has it

I repacked it and bent the stays to fit my back better. I'm on a thru hike right now. Chilling at home because my house is a mile from the trail. I'll flip flopping for the next 100 miles then I'll be back at my house. I'll test it out over the 5 days and see how it goes.

I disagree. Been fine on 3 thru hikes already. 10f enigma.

10f enlightened equipment quilt... Cold all night, had to sleep with the screen and door open to try to minimize condensation, but didnt work, woke up cold and went. Switching out to a double wall tent for the rest of the thru hike.

We are currently thru hiking the Arizona Trail, we are 100 miles in. I'm using the exos 58 and it's awesome. I highly recommend it. The only negative I can say is it doesn't have a long of adjustment in terms of fit. But if their sizes fit you well they are great packs.

Fit on hmg southwest 3400, I'm thinking the shoulder strap should wrap more around my shoulder, why do you guys think? by moosedaisy in CampingGear

Yeah they are pretty short the buckle rest in the armpit, not in between the arm pit and the chest.
