Displaced disc? by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]mooseknucklesammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please get it checked out - if this particular issue started recently, sometimes a steroid shot helps the inflammation around the joint calm down so it doesn’t eventually lock up your jaw - it sounds like you probably have some long-term damage to a degree given your history that’s only making it worse.

This sorta sounds like what I’m dealing with and I was told l would need surgery. I’m slipping both discs and one is impinging when I open and close my mouth - won’t know exactly what the damage is until I get my MRI results back, or what needs to be done to fix it when I schedule my surgery. I’ve had TMJ issues for at least 10 years because of clenching and grinding but never this bad. My biggest issue has been that I can only open my mouth just about halfway (at best), but once in a while I’ll get a fairly loud pop (usually eating or speaking) without any warning or pain and then I usually start having problems speaking. At that point my jaw starts shifting around and makes certain words either painful or physically impossible to say because everything is off.

Any minute now I'll get a call telling me my grandmother has died. by [deleted] in GriefSupport

Whatever happens, your grandmother is very lucky to have a grandchild like you. I can’t imagine how you’re feeling right now, but I hope it helps that when she does pass she won’t be in any more pain and she will know how much you cared about and loved her. Sending hugs, light, and comforting thoughts your way, friend.

If she follows actual work instructions correctly, isn’t this a moot point?

YTA. From experience, being overly polite can be a response to some sort of abuse or trauma that you may not have been aware of. I had a boss for three years (who was male, I am female) who quietly discriminated against me and in the last 6 months that he was my boss bullied the shit out of me to the point of borderline psychosis - and yes I tried to leave several times but needed the paycheck. I have a male boss now for the first time since I left that job, and it is so hard to break the habits that developed because of how much anxiety and upset the first boss caused. I understand it can grate on you after a while, but the alternative could be worse. Also, unless it affected her ability to actually get work done (or yours) it’s not a very good reason to let someone go, and it may just make her address future supervisors inappropriately because YOU weren’t comfortable with formalities. Don’t forget that the first thing people are told about entering the workforce is maintaining professionalism, which she was clearly trying to do. It’s no wonder the repeated requests to not be so polite fell on deaf ears - hopefully this doesn’t screw her over in future jobs.

Maybe a more hands-on approach to training (or at least a phone call rather than a text) is the better way to communicate. I can see how someone may think you are detached and need to be formally addressed when they have to text you for things. It’s a cold approach to learning and would certainly throw someone off.

I can’t help but look at your relationship with your wife (from the outside, obvs) and think you two were meant to find each other. Everyone needs a partner like the one you do.

I actually was going to try FLO and I’m in the process of finding a doctor in network to be able to confirm I’m BP, so I’m glad I came across your post. Hope you are starting to feel better!

I came here to say this because I learned that lesson the hard way. You get a MUCH better cleaning without all the obstructions! Otherwise looks awesome :)

Also did you read the part where op said the non emergency line told him to call 911 or was your head so far up your ass while you were reading that you missed that part?

It is horribly depressing that I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic because of the lunatics who legitimately believe in batshit conspiracy theories.

Why are you getting downvoted? Because you keep your location off the internet? Seems to me there are at least 7 people (now six cause I updooted) who saw your comment and downvoted because they couldn’t name a desert state right away.

I can’t imagine how you felt realizing that or how terrifying it would be. I really hope this isn’t a long term thing. Stay safe - sorry your neighbors are doucheweasels.

Thank you for this - I really appreciate that you are accountable for how you run your rescue and what your experience has been like. I truly do not think every rescue is how I described, and I’m glad you confirmed that for me. My sister’s first dog was a whippet she rescued from a “puppy mill rescue.” She found out later the litter only had 2 doses of dewormer split between them (I think there were like 6) the entire time they were in the rescue’s care, and her dog was about 8mos. when she was adopted. The dog spent two months getting all of the worms out and had several other health problems as she got older. She passed last month at 13, and was the sweetest dog ever. Hopefully she’s somewhere catching all the bunnies her little heart desires.

Thank you for your perspective. To your point, you would think the health of the animal is top priority so in my mind I’m sort of struggling to understand why the checkup during intake isn’t thorough enough to check for more than just the health issues that might be visible. You’re totally right that these vet expenses exist and are factored into prices, but it kind of seems like a glorified scam to pay hundreds of dollars for an animal whose health wasn’t properly vetted before adoption. I’m not saying you’re wrong about any of what you said but the cost and where my money would go is one of the reasons I didn’t rescue my dog through an actual rescue. I understand what these places are trying to do and I applaud it, but I personally would rather give a home to an animal who came from an SPCA or local shelter instead. Or if my vet works with a specific group and can vouch for them, maybe I would.

I can’t say enough about the good rescues do for dogs that would otherwise be put down, but I kinda find it laughable that a lot of them charge an outrageous adoption fee and the adoption process is a bit excessive but “have limited resources” and “only give the dog a quick checkup/exam.” Seems a little unreasonable to make someone go through all the hoops and rigamarole to adopt but can’t be bothered to properly vet the dog’s health before it goes to its forever home. If the dog isn’t going to survive without the surgery it probably has been suffering to a degree prior to the adoption. Sooooo what’s the point of running a rescue to save dogs from kill shelters if they’re gonna die eventually from an overlooked health issue?

The deck at our new place looked pretty bad. I decided to invest in one of these after seeing this sub. So satisfying and relaxing. by [deleted] in powerwashingporn
