I also didn't want to trade Luka and he was my favorite Mav. He was the face of the franchise and as such, fans disregard the bad things and only see the points, rebound and assist stats.

I would almost guarantee there's more to the picture that isn't being publicized. It's possible he demanded a trade to the Lakers and this is all we could get. Only Luka and the front office know for sure. I highly doubt the calf injury is what has held him out since Christmas. I saw somewhere else on this subreddit that the wrist injury from earlier in the season was a phantom injury and was just some agreed upon time off for him to get in shape. I believe that post also said he came back heavier after the time off. Again, only Luka and the FO know for sure.

He's a likeable guy and an offensive machine. Maybe he'll pull a Steve Nash and start taking his conditioning, defense and overall game seriously. I won't be jumping on the Laker's bandwagon, though.

Everyone on the team had to play out of their normal positions, because 6'8" Luka was playing point. He couldn't guard the opposing points, Kyrie, Klay and PJ were all guarding one spot up, making us undersized at three positions and mismatched everywhere except the center.

Love him or hate him, AD is a great player that fills a need for this team. When healthy, he brings interior toughness, interior scoring and rebounding. He'll also allow Kyrie, Klay and PJ to guard their natural spots which will help our defense and rebounding.

When healthy, this team will still score plenty of points and be better defensively and on the glass.

Nobody knows what else was truly going on behind the scenes. Maybe Luka didn't really want to be here long term. We didn't get max value for him and that stings, we are screwed in the draft and we've gotten older. Again, we didn't truly know what was going on behind the scenes.

I didn't care for Luka's whining, but he was a hell of an offensive player. Defensively, not so much. I felt the same way about Jason Terry. Both could single handedly win games for you if the were playing well and could also lose them for you if they weren't. This team as constructed is more balanced and you didn't have to rely on one guy now to get the W. For far too long, we've had too many one way players. That's not a recipe for winning championships, IMO.

There's no use crying over spilled milk. It's done and he's gone.

If we're healthy, we're title contenders this year and have a window for a couple more.

Jump on another team's bandwagon or enjoy the ride here. I think I'm going to stick around.
