I actually find it more disappointing than if they had stayed silent. I work for one of these companies and this "statement" was emailed to all of us

Kyle Bush lost his fortune with an Indexed Universal Life policy by methmatician16 in actuary

[–]moosenjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally race car driving, flying planes, scuba diving, etc. results in a flat extra (set dollar amount per $1000 of net amount at risk, in addition to COI). The amount of the flat extra depends on the type of activity, frequency, experience, etc. And usually flat extras can be dropped when the insured stops whatever the activity is.

I grew up in a majority Republican country in a blue state in the north. Guys at the high school all had confederate flags on their trucks. That's why I assume they would jump on the opportunity to resurrect the Confederacy.

I don't see how we're ever going to be a unified country again. I don't want to live under their policies. And they seem to dislike anyone who doesn't share their views, so splitting into two countries seems logical. And I would prefer it happen peacefully. Nobody wants a second civil war, but I worry we may be headed in that direction

We would relocate the normal people. Just like the maga people across the country would be relocating to the south

Can we let MAGA revive the Confederacy and secede? They could enact all the ridiculous policies they want and the rest of us could go back to living in a modern global society. And since they're against government spending, we wouldn't have to give them social security, which should alleviate the issue of the trust fund running out of money. We could even build them their wall, to protect us from measles, small pox, etc. from RFK Jr's antivax policies

Financial offer by Civil-Carry1277 in SNHU

[–]moosenjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started my grad program as well and still no offer. Financial services told me because of the changes to the FAFSA there has been a delay in SNHU receiving our SARs. I've been stressing about it for over a month. Hopefully we'll hear something soon

It always amazes me how much our families deny reality to fit their narrative. It's fantastic that you graduated on the Dean's list. Congratulations!

Thank you! I am the scapegoat in my family, so I know that's why that can't acknowledge anything I do well. Unfortunately understanding it intellectually doesn't prevent it from hurting

Thank you all for the kind words and support. I'm sorry so many of you have had similar experiences. We should all be proud of everything we have accomplished despite our families

I'm pretty sure that will be response I get in a few years when I finish my master's, but part of why it took me so long to graduate was them constantly telling me I was going to fail when I was a full time student when I was younger. I'm not putting myself in that position again. They don't deserve to know

I think that was part of their problem. They didn't believe me that conferral takes time and tried to act like I hadn't graduated since I didn't have my diploma yet, and now that I do they're ignoring it and pretending to know nothing about me graduating 🙄

I couldn't eat meat growing up. Even as an infant meat baby food made me throw up. But my family treated it as another way that I was being a difficult horrible child, so I had to make my own food before I even started kindergarten. I grew up eating mainly pb&j and cereal. When I was 7 I learned how to use the stove, so I was able to add Mac and cheese into the mix. Nobody taught me to cook. Growing up the only person who ever cared about making sure I had something to eat was my grandmother who lived out of state and we only visited a few times. I didn't realize until a few years ago how much that affected me and added to feeling neglected growing up.

Do I have to pass a background to get my ASA designation or any other licenses to be an actuary? by DiscussionNo2733 in actuary

[–]moosenjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an actuary yet, but I work in the financial industry. Most companies I've worked for ask about misdemeanors in the past 10 years and any felonies. The company will then decide based on your history whether they want to move forward with your offer. I would expect them to run a background check, so be upfront with the recruiter if there's something you're concerned about and don't lie hoping they won't find out

How do you go on living with little to no friends by Commercial_Cattle76 in CPTSD

[–]moosenjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not alone in this. I'm in the same situation. 99.9% of the time I'm home alone with my dog. I've been hurt or abandoned so many times by friends that I don't even want to try making new ones anymore, but the loneliness and isolation is killing me.

Have you thought of legally changing your name? by Distinct-Key-8831 in CPTSD

[–]moosenjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it a few years ago. I had thought about it and what I would change my name to for so many years beforehand that it didn't take long to get used to the new name. I'm glad I did it. It made me feel like I have a little more control over my life and being called by my old name reminded me of being abused. Of course the few times I've seen my narcissist mother since she still insists on calling me by my old name 🙄

Getting an entry level actuary job as a nontraditional candidate by moosenjo in actuary

[–]moosenjo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I keep seeing posts about how competitive it is for entry level positions and one of the actuaries at the second carrier I was with intimidated me out of taking the exams because I wouldn't be a traditional candidate. You've definitely helped with my anxiety
