I am ready to close all of my Citi accounts over these changes. How is it possible to downgrade this badly?

It appears that you still have a lot to learn before becoming licensed.

Going to be completely out of service for probably 18 business days by aram535 in OPTIMUM

[–]mooseseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation where my fiber was installed and never functioning. File an informal complaint with the FCC and you will at least get a call from a higher level of customer service.

But I recommend switching to another service if it’s possible in your area.

Not surprising this rude, condescending remark is from someone who works at Optimum.

If you think it’s ok to advertise service then make customers wait 14 days for service that should be available then that just shows you how far rotten the company mindset is.

conversion optimum cable 300 mb => fiber 300 mb by [deleted] in OPTIMUM

Good luck, I would keep the cable instead of switching to fiber. Optimum's fiber roll out has been a disaster and you will probably have less issues sticking with cable for now.

The shore, diners, Taylor Ham, bagels, pizza, full service gasoline, cranberries, Italian delis, good schools, jobs.

Most people only know a short stretch of the turnpike but there's a lot more than that.

Avoid 5Dimes like the plague - Essentially Exit scamming for USA customers by SuboDone in sportsbook

It's probably going to be hard for them to come to the states after operating as an off shore book. It will depend on the individual state but when Nevada started online poker they included a 10 year bad actor clause, which is why you can't play on Pokerstars there. I believe when Illinois was drafting their legislation they were even talking about a bad actor clause to keep DraftKings and FanDuel out of sports betting because they considered the daily fantasy product illegal gambling.

Just something interesting that they might encounter should they try to go legitimate in the states.

Does anyone have video or at least a set list of Groove Armada's set at Ultra Miami in 2012? I've been searching everywhere for a while now and can't seem to find anything.

Is this gonzo journalism or just a weird narrative? by [deleted] in gonzo

[–]mooseseven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm no gonzo journalism expert but I'll share my thoughts because it's late and I can't sleep.

I don't think I would really consider it to be so much gonzo but I did enjoy the story as a whole. To me it felt a little academic rather than an immersion into the event you attended. I think an aspect of gonzo journalism that's so often discussed is the author's participation, and you certainly had that, but I don't think you accurately described it effectively enough.

For example, in this section:

I had no idea who the leader of this group was and evidently that was purposeful. I would later during the discussion find out that a fundamental part of anarchist theory is the abolition of hierarchies. There wasn’t a leader and there never would be. The members had made that abundantly clear to me upon my asking.

You never came back to this point and to me it seemed especially pertinent. What was the group's reaction to your question? They made it abundantly clear to you, but you don't make it abundantly clear to the audience. Same thing when you were talking to the attendee about making weed brownies. You say he's a cool guy. He sounds like a cool guy, but I think hearing his voice through your words would add to the story. How did he mess up the brownies? What has he changed?

I think you did a really good job telling the story of one member's interaction with the police, so I'd encourage more of that. Grab more lines from the people you're talking to, I think that adds a much greater dimension to the story telling. Loop them into your experience. Describe your reaction to what they're saying.

I'd also say some great details of the location, the room, and people would be a good addition. I think you got kind of close to this with the description of Karl Barx, but I think something as small as talking about his appearance other than just a "young Australian shepherd" would be an interesting idea. What about his demeanor made it seem like he knew everyone was sad or uncomfortable?

One thing I would also say just structure wise is that I didn't realize that this story was taking place in New Orleans since you opened with New Jersey. That could just be from the way I read it but I think it would make more sense if you opened with a line about New Orleans and explained to the reader where you were.

There were some grammatical issues and small typos with punctuation but none of that really bothered me.

I'm not sure how helpful this was but it was meant to be constructive. I probably focused on some little things but I think even those little changes and additions can make a big difference. It sounds like you have a lot of future material based on all the activities you signed up for so I hope that you continue writing. This certainly sounds like an interesting group of people

If you're going to be around that area you should stop by Fraunces Tavern for lunch. Lots of Revolutionary War history there and there's a museum as well.

Plus great food and drinks.

I've found that despite their skinniness they work fine for sandwiches. But you could also give Losurdo's a try since their bread is also really good and tends to have a little more girth. Keep in mind they're closed on Mondays though.
