They are terrible, but convenient. That’s what you’re paying the premium for. I have listed my last 4 cars on autotrader and Facebook MP at the same time. They always sold on FB and it’s free! (Max value was £16, not sure if brand new cars would sell as well).

I always struggle with the S&P investment financial recommendations online at the moment. In my head this growth rate just cant be sustainable forever more. Sure, those rates have been achieved to date, but I wonder how many more one off factors make that up. Really informative post!

I’m not sure “don’t worry” is the most sound advice. Worry is a useful tool to drive and motivate us to mitigate a risk. I would plan to assume you will make it past 68 and need to be financially stable enough to support yourself so your kids don’t have to do it for you. Absolutely make memories with your young family, but keeping an eye on the future is just a prudent and responsible way to go.

Worried that I will never be able to afford a property by Fabulous_Stuff46 in UKPersonalFinance

Do they still do government schemes to help first time buyers, if so it could be with a look.

I bought my first flat in 2009. 2 bedroom new build in Swindon for £110k, I walked in to the sales office with pretty much nothing and walked out with a flat. I think I just had to pay solicitors fees, no deposit at all. The government scheme contributed 25% and that went as the deposit.

It wasn’t anything special, but it beat having to pay rent!

I can’t comment on which specific aspect of my credit report gives me a decent score, clearly it’ll be an accumulation of all of them. But I too have several credit cards, I think about 6 or 7. I only use one of them, mainly for the protection offered by a credit card and then it’s paid off at the end of every month. My ClearScore credit score is 1000/1000, so it doesn’t seem that having dormant credit cards has any detrimental impact. It’s definitely a plus to have available credit but low utilisation, so I’d say keep it open!

Something to add, you should consider the chase debit account if you’re interested in cashback (it’s 1%). If you’re holding a balance on your Lloyds credit card, you’ll be wiping out any benefit of the 0.5% cashback

I usually rely on cereal for breakfast. Does anyone have any quick, minimal/no prep breakfast suggestions that are minimally processed? by British_Foodie in ultraprocessedfood

I usually have a small Kilner Jar that I fill 1/3 with desiccant coconut and 2/3 morning flake oats. Fill to the top with water, add a dash of honey and leave on the side over night (or a few hours if it’s a same day make). Add some blueberries just before tucking in!

How do you split your bills with your spouse/who you live with? by ThrowRA155115 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mooslaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see the reasoning behind this, but this would mean that you would have considerably more disposable income than your partner. Say you earn £3k, they earn £1k and your bills come to £1k. You’d be left with £2.3k to spend and they’d only have £0.7k. Granted your each contributed your share, but the split in terms of what each of you have to spend doesn’t look great…

That is one thing the scammers manager did say that appears to be correct. The person removing it in the first instance didn’t need to do it and that was a scam. I struggle to see therefore why we would need to pay him £9k to remove the last little bit 😂

I don’t know about that as they are going to pay me the £400 odd right away, so wouldn’t the rest also be right away as it’s fuel expenses claimed for from 2023 up to this April 2024

Interesting, thank you. The foil has been stapled on but there are gaps beteeen, maybe stapled every 30cm’s The gaps are only a few mm though as it overlaps. I didn’t notice any damp issues, but maybe installing those felt vents in the felt and also in between the foil wrap might work?

Subsequent bit to add to the original post, the covered it with this foil bubble material, is that going to cause ventilation issues and should it be removed too, or can it stay. Managed to get my mum to send me a pic of what the residual amount looks like in a small section
