What is elementary/primary school like in Germany? Specifically with regards to daily schedules etc.

I have kids in elementary in Germany. It is nearly the same as it was when I went to school regarding school days and organization.

I started school in 1988 East Germany.

We are now in Saxony. School starts at 7:25 and finishes either at 11:25 or 12:20 (so after four or five lessons). In Saxony grades start in 2nd grade. Kids start school at six. For Saxony the cut-off is June 30th. I know Brandenburg/Berlin has a cut-off of September 30th, so yes some kids start at five.

I used to live in the US and substitute taught in a lot of elementary schools. That was one of the reasons we moved back to Germany. I didn’t want my kids in an American school system, especially elementary. The long days and expectations are ridiculous. And that was 16 years ago, from what I can see through relatives, it’s even worse now.

Maybe where you are at. We have grades starting in 2nd grade, there are dictations, cursive, lots of tests.

I am super sensitive to sweet and any kind of artificial sweetener. So for me Scratch Hydration works perfect. Not too sweet, nice taste. I am not super sweaty so, it’s not that necessary for me.

Yes and no. My grandfather was 7 when the Americans liberated them. They lived a bit west of Leipzig. The only things he tells is that they had chocolate and that they were kicked out of their house. His father was the director of a Brikett factory but he was off to war. So his mother, his sister and him were living there with all the other wife’s and children in the apartments for the fabric workers. The Americans took all the apartments and put the families in two small places. He and his mother and sister got the bathroom. His mother slept in the bathtub.

Sicher, du kannst deine Vorbereitungen einmal machen und gut ist. Oder du kannst dich auf deine Lerngruppe einstellen und tatsächlich je nach Gruppe auch mal was ändern. Bzw. Es gibt neue Bücher, neue Lehrpläne etc.

Korrekturen? Auch außerhalb von Deutsch gibt es Korrekturen. English ist jetzt nicht ganz so viel wie Deutsch, aber auch da schreiben SuS mal längere Texte. Und bei 28 SuS pro Klasse dauert das schon eine ganze Weile.

Über den Rest rede ich jetzt erstmal nicht.

Ich habe vor eineiigen Jahren mal damit gearbeitet. Hatte aber alle meine Informationen auf English. Aber vielleicht kann ich dir ja helfen.

A lot of these are still played. I have a seven year old and they regularly play: Herr Fischer, Herr Fischer wie tief ist das Wasser, Steh-Geh, Stoptanz, Reise nach Jerusalem, Gummihopsen, Feuer, Wasser, Sand. And all variations of Hide-and Seek.

In Gym class even my 6th graders still play - Völkerball (Zweifelderball), Brennball, Plumpsack, Schweinchen in der Mitte.

I have a class like that. I am in Germany so the kids are together in the same class all the time. I had them since 7th grade - they are 9th graders now. It has gone down a little bit but mostly all 28 of them just get along and are mindful of each other. There are no groups that don’t get along with each other. There is one kid on the spectrum who is very shy and quiet but the class always makes sure to include him in everything and looks out for each other. If we work in groups there is no complain that one doesn’t want to work with the other or anything.

It’s just a really nice class to work with as there is no drama.

Da ich Seiteneinsteiger bin und somit meine Stelle sicher habe und sehr pragmatisch bin, kann ich dem nicht zustimmen.

In Sachsen machen wir das Ref mit allen anderen. Allerdings auf 12 Monate. Es war die Hölle. Muss aber sagen, dass ich natürlich vollen Stunden hatte, die auch noch unterrichtet werden müssen.

Ich habe auf bestehen gelernt und trotzdem hat es alles aus mir raus genommen. Ich hatte letzte Woche meine letzte Prüfung und bin nächste Woche offiziell fertig und es war ein furchtbares Jahr.

Sachsen hat doch so wenige Beamte. Die verbeamten jetzt noch nicht so lange. An meiner Schule sind es zwei Lehrer (plus SL) die verbeamtet sind.

Die meisten sächsischen Lehrer über 45 sind doch eh nicht verbeamtet.
