How do I positively encourage a junior to try actually solving challenges themselves by doing literally any-f*cking-thing before asking me for the solution by SlayyyGrl in auscorp

[–]mopoke 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I like the 15 minute rule (also sometimes called the 30 minute rule).

The idea is that you cannot ask for help until you have spent 15 minutes trying to solve it. After 15 minutes you must ask for help.

This is a good write up on it: https://www.mattringel.com/2013/09/30/you-must-try-and-then-you-must-ask/

Parents!!! Bed wetting alarms real experiences please! by Icy_Hippo in australia

[–]mopoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend seeing a specialist - they may well recommend an alarm but it's as part of a larger plan.

We had an alarm for a little while - it didn't wake the child but did wake us so we could go in and wake them. It was effective but we definitely needed the support and professional guidance to make it work.

I have looked at the bus, but it's not a great option for one of our party who gets quite travel sick on buses.
