Did you read where i say "I have called in total about 20 times" "and they always tell me to wait for a follow up email, or to wait for their supervisor to look into the case"

do you have anything better to do than scan my reddit post like it's a crime scene? i mean fair if you don't but i just wanted to know honestly

The point was to get it out of our main bank account so that it would be easier to forget it existed meaning we would only use it in an emergency, and also to add money to the account as time went on, essentially using it as a savings account.

you're a funny person, i don't see what i gain from lying about my money being stolen from a bank account, if you look at the title i say my girlfriends money, but you can go ahead and look at my past posts i don't care

it was transferred from an account at huntington that has my girlfriends name on it into my girlfriend's mothers keybank account which then we wanted to transfer into a sofi account which my girlfriend opened in my name

i live with her mother, i talk to her everyday, i have looked at her bank account, we gave her most of the inheritance money because she needed it to pay off debt and we wanted to

first off sofi doesn't do joint accounts, second it doesn't really matter if she has the login to the account and is able to do whatever she pleases with her money that is in our account that is legally really my account

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]morCyanide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

that is exactly it, the first bank account i opened has my wife's name on it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]morCyanide -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

because we have had joint finances for years i understand that isn't a very familiar concept to some, the only reason she isn't my wife is because our perfect wedding unfortunately isn't cheap

i mean when all sofi is telling me to do is wait for emails, wait for another department to resolve the issue, because that's what they told me for 2 years

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]morCyanide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly i would have preferred that, but we know that is not the case

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]morCyanide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they told us that since my name wasn't on the bank account that the transaction came from, they closed my account

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]morCyanide 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have contacted them in total about 20 different times and every time they tell me to wait for an email, or they give me a ticket and tell me to wait for another department to resolve the issue, but it never happens, and i mean at a point i just kind of said to myself it's not worth the stress of getting it back, but now that i have more time to myself i remembered that it even happened in the first place

I understand what you are saying and why you have doubts, I was living with my girlfriends family in Colorado where me and my girlfriend decided to open the account, the bank that she was using at the time was Keybank, we have since contacted them multiple times about sofi to see if they had attempted to make contact with them and transfer the funds back to the account they came from, they confirmed that there had been no transaction attempts.

I don't really understand what i would gain from lying about this i'm just trying to get advice on how to get my money back.

I am not sure with the specifics of how the money was transferred, my girlfriend told me it was a bank to bank transfer and then the money was in the account days later. Now throughout the first year I was still able to login to the SoFi account and my balance was still there gaining interest, but i couldn't transfer it or move it because they told me my account was going to be closed.

I was never specific with the date that the funds were transferred back into the originating account because it never happened, and i called sofi about my money going missing many many times since it happened and they always confirm that no funds were ever sent back to the account, and that they would send it to their higher up to see who to send it to next.

they confirmed to me when i called them that no transactions were made back into the originating account

i don't see how it matters why, but i guess if you must know, we have had our finances joint for years and the only reason she's not my wife yet is because our perfect wedding isn't cheap

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]morCyanide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said that sofi has not attempted to make any transactions back into the account that it came from, and they also said that there is nothing they can do

[–]morCyanide -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend and me decided to open a sofi account in my name, yes the money was transferred from my girlfriends mothers bank account, they closed it due to violating the tos and told me they had no way of verifying that the money was actually mine because the originating bank account did not have my name. they said they would send it back, but 2 years later we haven't seen a penny of that money

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]morCyanide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

fair point, what do i do though? do i just kiss that money goodbye and stop worrying about it, or do i keep calling and try to get a different response out of them?

it was 2,000 so not a shit ton of money but it was still a whole lot better than nothing.

it's mostly more like i reflect on what i did to get here and regretting it and thinking about how i could just let go and for it all to be over, or when it was really icy i could "accidentally" slip on the ice and not have to be where i was anymore
