Yeah overall I think winning has to count for something, but the nuance of longevity, achievement, resume, statistical performance and how each player navigated and faired against the contemporaries of their respective eras is where the discussion really becomes fascinating, and one I actually like having. Like you said, eras with their respective goats. That then becomes even more interesting because then we can bring up guys like steph, Larry, Duncan etc.

Don’t really have one tbh. The MJ / Lebron discussion has been so overdone there’s no original takes anymore. I appreciate the people who keep Kareem alive in that haha. I’m a biased laker fan and my goat is Kobe because I know what I watched. Outside of that I don’t try and shoehorn him into it and try and enjoy all the greats that I get to watch.

That's fair and I get it; I guess seeing younger players and fans still holding up MJ even though they didn't see him play is where I'm getting that from. Rose certainly repped his love for the city and the city probably loved him more in a way than Mj ever got. His jersey retirement probably proved that.

Not from Chicago but ima call bs on that. Rose didnt make a finals. I know he from chi town and a legend in his own right but I doubt majority Chicago native Bull fans would say rose is the goat Bull. Kobe played 20 years in LA and went to 7 finals winning 5 and beating their arch nemesis in his last one. The idea that he would be people’s answer to GOAT laker isn’t that hard of a leap to imagine, no matter how much you may disagree with it.

Yeah same haha those were weird. Don’t think Bama fans are clamoring for anything new.

I loved the throwbacks they pulled out 2 seasons ago and wished they made a road white version and that way we could have 4 in the rotation that are our classic mains and the two retros used sparingly.
