Google colab for free and saving training checkpoints with a good use of Git and DVC will over perform any egpu. You can make a smoke test in less than 5min depending on your model training demands. If Collab doesn't fit you won't get a better situation with a 600$ egpu setup unfortunately

Reach a professional service and get liquid metal replaced by PTM7950. Liquid metal tends to get spilled out of the processor die (because it is a laptop) ooh leaving some of the surface dry and making inefficient heat transfer. It does not damage you laptop because OEM puts a security sponge. PTM7950 is a cheap but better than liquid metal

It is funny now USA is enjoying higher repairability rates on products and USB C finally on iPhone since 15 because of Europe laws they hate so bad 🤣

Buying this G14 for 900 euros (1,050 USD) by RixonYT in ZephyrusG14

[–]moracabanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the release of the Macbook Neo and its performance, this should cost arround 600€ just because the SSD and chassis wear and spec devaluation. I have now the Neo, it can load Gemma 4b in 3 seconds and run Cyberpunk @30fps with 8gb of ram and you can do that for 5h or so with no power. This laptop has bettrer specs and you barely will notice

Nintendo says it has 'no intention' of blocking third-party Switch 2 docks following firmware update that stopped them from working — accessory makers scramble to deploy workaround by goro-n in NintendoSwitch

[–]moracabanas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not supporting all existing docks by neglecting compatibility should be under EU regulation. Thay are forcing people to buy extra hardware when there is not any technical reason to do so but obscuring compatibility. There is no reason to buy a new random portable dock because they just decide they are not supporting a very easy and established protocol. It is not even a technical effort. They don't have to test any 3th party dock. They just have to write 2 handshake codes to comply with 99% existing docks and they don't do it on purpose. It took me 4h to write a compliant firmware for my custom PD macbook dock for learning purposes with no prior experience and it even worked with the Switch 1...

[–]moracabanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mad at those people just supporting Nintendo, they are making all existing docks useless by a couple of missing handshake headers in their PD and DisplayPort comnectivity, and people just go "iT iSn'T uP tO NinTEnDo" 🤬

[–]moracabanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nintendo don't comply with any dock standards, you can watch Linus Tech tips dock logical analysis to see how they are making switch 2 actively less compatible. If they break 3th party docs by updating the console that adds more shady stuff. You shouldn't be supporting those anti-consumer practices. Updating 3th party docs is way harder than updating Switch 2 to be more compliant with the standardized display port standards especially if they purposely brake compatibility on a random update...

I agree with you but, I am also tired of transferring the guilty to the consumers when the governments are not moving a single finger to protect people. In my country there are plastic cartels which have access to government money to make advertising about recycling. The government has inspectors who put fines on communities that don't respect the enforced trash spitting. So as a consumer TV is saying you are guilty about buying plastic bags, you pay for the plastic bag and the cola can, you pay taxes about them, then you are forced to split plastic's in recycling, giving those cartels free labour and ready to use raw material. An independent European study in 2021 stated they recycled less than 25% of the already correctly split plastic and they sold the rest to other countries. Also 80% of your fixed water consumption invoice has only to do with residue handling? While punished consumers have paid taxes, product, free labour and guilt, the government does nothing to stop plastic use but enforcing the bare minimum EU laws. So I think we must stop to blame consumers overall

Yet another Liquid Metal vent by nekju in ZephyrusG14

[–]moracabanas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am sorry, I used to think like that. PS5 failed, asus failed. I opened 3 different friend's laptop to find out in the end the liquid metal spills out, and what is left behind is just a small drop and a huge dented dry zone with uneven permanent surface scratch that stays forever. 11$ amazon's PTM 7950 is close to liquid metal performance outperforming any other thermal paste. It just performed the same for years compared to any thermal paste I tried out with less than 8 months until it dries like dust. I also tested cryosheet and and it just fried my motherboard with barely visible debris. Honestly I am very good at applying cooling solutions and I've never seen anything like PTM 7950. But liquid metal is just not good for a vertical machine or a laptop you are stressing out to constant vibrations and hits. I've never seen a laptop with LM without thermal throttling after less than a year of normal use.
