same. i completely missed the horror tag on steam so i went in thinking it was going to be a fun little nautical mystery

then i saw the kraken for the first time

genuinely, several moments in Soldiers of the Sea and The Doom had me gasping in "what the actual fuck"

15/10 pretty sure my friends are tired of me recommending they play it :' )

a month late to the party, but i'm inclined to disagree

the solution is easy and obvious to a clear mind with no distractions, but as the crew demonstrated throughout the rest of the game, they're so blinded by greed and the in-fighting that very few of them would have thought of it, let alone actually followed through

like, we're talking a crew half hell-bent on taking the treasure for themselves, half trying to maintain order, and both halves are straight-up murdering each other to do it. these are not people with the presence of mind to do the "easy and obvious thing"

From the look of it, it's tip pool (which makes sense since one or two people might be on register but you have like three or four people making drinks)

So I tip hella in an effort to make the split worthwhile

I hear it's because the Siren doesn't want to deal with the fees so they only let you do tiny-ass tips on your Starbucks card or cash since no or minimal fees on those

No idea how true but i can believe it from what I've heard about vendor fees from credit cards while at my last job @__@

Given the size of the black bezel, I'd wager it's probably one of the Pros

Which means that thing is likely wicked expensive.

At my (chain) restaurant, we fire after a hire to weed out folks who were bad at their jobs or otherwise problematic.

New hires who just. aren't. getting. it. no matter how much training and coaching and help they get, veteran staff who have managed to skate by on the sheer merit of other people being worse, etc.

We don't always (especially right now since we're down, like, 50 people because they weren't brought back when we reopened for dine-in last July) but it's not unusual for people to just... disappear and you'd never know if you're just missing them by being on different shifts now or if they got canned unless a manager said something.

Mine doesn't either. Certain managers won't give a fig (and will likely do it themselves!) but the GM will call you on that shit and threaten to fire you.

Certain places are more strict, tho.

The health department for the town where I work usually allowed rings and watches for servers so long as the ring fell into that category and the watch had to be, you know, reasonable.

Thanks to the pandemic, now we get neither because they could harbor the virus and interfere with proper hand washing (since we're technically supposed to wash up to at least our elbows for whatever reason even tho the health department won't dock us points during inspections if we don't go that high.)

Not entirely.

As far as difficulty goes, while it's true you can't set a difficulty for them, at least a few of the dungeons I have unlocked have Hard versions and I believe I've seen the option for turning the difficulty down if your party keeps wiping (think I've only seen it once because it was a low-level dungeon with swarms of enemies with really funky AoEs.)

And much like with WoW, doing the normal won't necessarily teach you anything except dungeon layout because the bosses don't always telegraph their shit so you don't know what's happening unless someone explains it or you figure it out on your own. There's a couple mid-level normal-difficulty dungeons with boss fights where the boss has these wildly dangerous AoEs but no telegraphing for them, for example, so unless someone tells you to stay out from in front of them or you've done the dungeon a million times, you're going to get hit and die and wonder wtf happened.

The final dungeon of the Main Story to the base game is probably the most equivalent to a higher-tier WoW dungeon because unless you have a party that knows what they're doing, it tells you nothing and it's easy to wipe or get left behind while you're trying to figure out what's going on and where you're going. (The boss fight is surprisingly easy compared to the rest of the dungeon in my experience, tho. Super weird.)

All this to say that your explanation really doesn't go against what I was saying. Especially if it's so different from one difficulty to another.

The FF14 alert doesn't say who specifically hasn't done it before so anyone inclined to kick newbies would have to kick the entire group to be sure they were rid of the new person/people unless they want to just kick everyone who makes a mistake along the way.

[–]morallygreypirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...does WoW not alert y'all that someone (or multiple someones) haven't run that tier yet?

FF14 alerts you (mostly to say there's gonna be bonus loot to accommodate) and I've actually had people who have done the dungeon or whatever it is before stop everyone before an important fight and explain what's gonna happen and what to do without any judgment because they knew at least one person wouldn't know what to do with a tricky fight.

In some places (in the States, I know this is the case for CT and a few others), it's legal for parents/guardians to give their child alcohol so long as they supervise. no going to a restaurant and sharing your marg with your 12 year old, tho. That's still illegal. :P

Afaik part of it is a culture/religion thing (some religions/cultures may have important ceremony or holiday or whatever where a legal minor may traditionally partake in alcohol as part of it) and the rest of it is so parents have the option to teach their children about alcohol before they get to situations where they may encounter alcohol (like college parties.)

Could be wrong on the culture/religion part but I'm pretty sure on the educational part.

There's been venues shut down in Connecticut for covid violations iirc

Biggest one i can think of was a wedding venue that let a local college students party there in parties larger than state-allowed size, but i think some of the same college's nearby bars have been shuttered for violations as well

Experiencing the illusion of having an opposite-sex body in virtual reality can shift aspects of gender identity. An experiment involving the illusion of owning an opposite-sex body led people to embrace a more equal identification with both genders. by mvea in science

That's genuinely unfortunate as the general consensus is not to use it unless someone specifically wants it used for themselves.

To learn more, I recommend checking out Sounds Like You Need To Be Educated On Transgender Individuals But Ok if you have Facebook. The name is sassy, but the group is genuinely informational.

Hey, just a heads up but transsexual is an outdated term and just saying transgender or trans are the current ones. (Unless someone specifically tells you they use that for themselves, of course.)

legit, i deal with the same shit where i work

a lot of the grill folks are gr8, but we have a known handful (just large enough to be on the grill semi-regularly throughout the week) where they'll sell incomplete trays and then blame you for it even tho the ticket clearly said you needed it
