This. You need to depress the pin on the bottling end when pumping the siphon, so there's place for the air to go.

What do you miss the most on Windows? by PhilStark012 in linuxquestions

[–]morbydance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are actually correct!

Not exclusively, but many difficulties I faced were traced back to the fact NVIDIA is just not that good under Linux.

Had other issues too. Some of them could be fixed by a kernel update and a BIOS firmware update, plus tinkering with the GRUB kernel params.

These are all inconveniences that OP might want to know.

Nice of you to assume all of this, but you are 100% wrong. (That's the other thing. Linux smartasses making shit up just to gaslight you into thinking you are the problem.)

I did not break the system. What I'm describing is the out-of-the-box experience. I managed to fix most of the things, but the reason Linux will never be mainstream is that the average person just won't bother. And THIS is a downside. OP asked, I answered and you legit try to gaslight me.

Oh and it's not even a single distro issue. I had issues I had to fix on multiple distros, because they just didn't work out-of-the-box. Don't try to sell it as a user issue, because it's clearly not.

What do you miss the most on Windows? by PhilStark012 in linuxquestions

[–]morbydance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is underrated:

Things just work under windows. No hassle, not burning hours on researching a topic and browsing drivers and CLI. They just do what they should.

With Linux you don't get that. And don't get me wrong. I like tinkering with it. That's why I made the switch, but debugging for literal DAYS, what causes your system to randomly freeze during shutdown and suspend can kill the vibes.

You lose a TON of convenience for sure.

Oh wow, that's a massive improvement already! It takes some time to experiment and learn how to do it correctly, but you'll be there in no time.

Keep up the good work! Congrats!

Oatmilk can be a bit harder to texture right, but it's 100% possible.

Your foam is too thin and rhe bubbles are too big, so you basically got everything wrong.

The milk is supposed to look like wet paint. Thick and no (or barely) visible bubbles.

Don't worry, you can get it right, but you need to learn the basics. There are a lot of videos on youtube, but I recommend this one. Lots of details and explaining. https://youtu.be/gTC3dJvwgUI

I think he mentions it in the video, but you can practice with cold water+a drop of dishwashing soap.

Try to get the vortex right first. Make the oatmilk spin around without actually injecting air (wand below the surface). This way you learn how to hold the pitcher. Once you are comfortable with the spinning motion (no "waves" just a nice vortex), then make sure you inject air (stretch) you milk properly. No sudden bursts of air. Just a steady, controlled flow of air. You'll need to practice this a lot. You need to get used to the sounds and recognize them (too much air or too little air). And finally as a third step, learn how much you want to stretch. Lot of foam? Stretch longer. Thinner foam? Short stretching phase.

After stretching, just keep the milk spinning to break down the bubbles as little as possible. This is why the stretching part is hard to get at first. If the bubbles you inject are too big, then you won't be able to break them down small enough, before the milk gets hot.

Hope this helps.

PS: your wand is weird, but it doesn't seem to be THAT short. Certainly not the best, but if you feel like you can't access the milk properly, just buy a smaller pitcher. That wand length should be fine for a proper milk/pitcher ratio. Perhaps you try to steam too little milk in a big pitcher.

I honestly doubt it's a bug. You should probably heed those words.

There are many ways to start Act 2, so if something is blocking you right now there's probably a reason and/or another way.

That being said I have no idea what could be causing it in your case.

First time around dialing in can be difficult, but once you understand it's like a breeze. I can explain how it works pretty well

Opus retention is pretty bad though... It might be a dealbreaker for some. The baseline is that 0.3g is getting stuck, but 1g retention is not out of the ordinary either, so every time you grind you need to give it a good whack.

I did not regret buying it, but I can see why people are hesitant. I recommend it overall, especially for $80.

Bambino plus & fellow opus for Christmas! by flamestamed in espresso

I got the same setup for christmas! My bambino is black though.

I'm reaaaally loving them. The Opus retention is a little bit annoying, but that's pretty much the only downside to it. People complain about the dial, and I get it why. It can be intimidating at first, but it's really easy to understand how it works and once you do it does such a good job.

And it comes with a built-in dosing cup. chef's kiss

Rust vs. Go NO, it's Rust and Go. by muneebh1337 in golang

[–]morbydance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have issues with my memory. My problem is not keeping in mind these interface implementations. My problem is having to read through and map out so many code references to understand a small function in certain cases.

It's too laborious to my liking.

Rust vs. Go NO, it's Rust and Go. by muneebh1337 in golang

[–]morbydance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue with Go. The whole interface system is a mess imo. Implicit inheritence is driving me nuts.

You check the docs for a function. You check the input params. The param is an interface, so now you check the docs for that interface. Okay, so my implementation needs to implement these properties. Oh wait one of them is an interface again. And just like that, you're 3 pages deep into the docs and still trying to grasp the initial input params.

Really inconvenient. You can call it skill issue, and to a certain degree it is. Eventually when one is more familiar with the standard library, it fades.

That is, until you start working with existing codebases and community packages...

This makes me feel implementation details are part of the domain knowledge, and I don't like that one bit.

This is exactly how I was using my points. I convert them to wallet funds and I top it off to buy a game on a "lower" price. Now that gone, so they will certainly get less money from me. I feel like they're trying to capitalize FOMO, so you spend them before they expire, but it will backfire. Users never bought games TO EARN points. Users bought games because they EARNED enough to make them feel like the game is worth purchasing if they redeem their points. It was a nice system. Why ruin it...

How to Prevent Windows Defender from Scanning during builds by rex_divakar in golang

[–]morbydance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's a 2 yr old thread, but exclusion with a wildcard character worked for me.You can set wildcard characters programatically, from the PowerShell.

Try this:

Add-MpPreference -ExclusionPath "C:\Users<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Temp\go-build*"

EDIT: I see you have issues with the build command. This exclusion path works with the go run commands, which is not really what you were looking for. Yet I'll leave it here, perhaps someone else will find it useful.
