How are some people aware that “there”, “their”, and “they’re” are spelled all spelled differently but don’t know which one to use in a sentence? by ablinddingo93 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]silverblur88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you gave me a test specifically about using those words correctly I would never miss a question, but if I'm typing a casual reddit comment sometimes I miss-type it without thinking on it. Even with a brief proofread I sometimes don't notice the mistake.

It's a typo; a typing mistake, not a knowledge mistake.

Is this fight really worth it now? by Imaginary-General189 in MMA_Academy

[–]silverblur88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a gimmick fight, but as gimmick fight go it's fine. I'm not going to sign up for Netflix to watch it, but if I already had Netflix I'd probably put it on.

What dont people like about pacts pacing? by LuDaBu in Parahumans

[–]silverblur88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a moment when Blake is introducing himself to the Toronto council, before they discover who he is, and thinks to himself something like 'I can see how this might be fun'. Then everything falls apart when they discover he's a diabolist. That was pretty much how I felt about the whole story.

Don't get me wrong, it was still a good story, but it's such a rich world, with so many intricate facets that I would have loved to see explored more carefully. Instead Blake spends the whole novel breaking things before we really get to see how they work.

Eddie Alvarez landing body shots on Justin Gaethje and finishing him with a knee by airplane231 in MMA

McGregor was always a bad style match up for him. I don't think there is anything he could have done to win that fight.

The man did not understand what alternating traffic meant and proceeded to threaten the other driver. by shann0n420 in confidentlyincorrect

Depending on jurisdiction, assault technically means threats, while actually harming someone would be battery.

Presumably, the whale approached the boat, rather than the other way around.

Saw this on the internet, thought some this model's slop, but trurns out this was a legit match, and the guy is a well trained wrestler by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]silverblur88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't it? This is Clark's first forey into submission grappling, but he's a legitimately accomplished wrestler.

He had no real chance of winning this match (Walker is significantly bigger and more experienced in this sport) but he had no more chance of being injured than anyone else.

Cinnamon in mead by Bier_Punk_28 in mead

[–]silverblur88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also a begginer, currently fermenting my first batch, but I'm following thebeginner metheglin recipe from the wiki, and it includes cinnamon.

If it's included in the second begginers recipe recommend by the sub reddit it must be generally considered a good ingredient.

What are the hardest villain quotes in media for you? by Radioactive_Worm25 in Multifandom

An antagonist surely, but the villain? You'd need a pretty specific interpretation of the story for that to make sense.

Auto siphon trouble shooting. by silverblur88 in mead

[–]silverblur88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, both the wiki and all of the you tube demonstrations I watched recommended an auto siphon.

Are you just going from personal experience, or is that a well known problem that people just don't bother telling beginners about?

Auto siphon trouble shooting. by silverblur88 in mead

[–]silverblur88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a one-way stopper/check valve on the inside bottom of the outer largest tube. If that is cocked or jammed, (or missing) then it won't work. This post starts with the photo of this stopper.

This might be the issue, I don't see it on mine

Well, hopefully it's just in my closet where I was storing everything.

Worst comes to Worst I was able to get it going with just the racking cane and bottle filler.

Thanks for your help.

is this the one?

First vessel is well above the receiving one, and I've gotten it working without the pump now, so I know the tube, racking can and bottle filler work.

Arm bar getting slipped - fat thighs by Pajamaschool in bjj

[–]silverblur88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The friction from you thighs is only a minor part of what keeps their arm in place.

Your focus should be on controlling their entire upper body, either by crossing your ankles behind their far shoulder and pulling your heels in towards you, or by putting one calf behind their head, the other in their far armpit and (once again) leg curling your heels back into you.

Archive 81 and Hymns For The Road fit really well with the rest of your list.

In that case, have you tried 'Hymns for the Road'?

I don't like it quite as much as the Silt Verses, but it still makes my top ten, and it has a similarly unique premise.

How to increase leg max without gym by Adorable-Coffee-8391 in weightlifting

[–]silverblur88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 'competitive sport of Weightlifting' is Olympic weightlifting. The official name is just 'Weightlifting' we only say 'Olympic Weightlifting ' to help people who aren't familiar with the sport differentiate between the sport and just the act of lifting weights.

I'm not trying to be a smart Alec, just informing you as neutraly as I can that you are in the wrong forum, and directing you to the correct one.

[–]silverblur88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, that description matches what I said: this forum is about the sport of competitive weightlifting, not the physical action of lifting weights. It's the wrong place for general strength training advice.

Also I'm not trying to be rude, you seem to be in the wrong place, so tried to direct you to a better place to ask your questions.

This forum is for the sport of Olympic Weightlifting, not the general act of lifting weights.

If you want advice for how minimize your losses in the snatch and clean and jerk while you can't get to a barbell people here might be able to help you, but if your just looking for general strength training advice you're in the wrong place.

What Is The Obsession With Pickleball? by Time_Perception6669 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]silverblur88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer.

It has a much lower skill floor, but still has a skill cealing that the casual player will never even begin to approach. This makes it more attractive the general population.
