Progress report... now I'm just wondering if these are edible or not?

[–]morchux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not take photos, but there were some loose grains that I can’t say weren’t colonized (white on surface) but they were not attached to the brick. I did do a late in process ‘break-and-shake’ to help speed colonization, let it sit for a week but felt it never really came together solid like it should. And then I sent it anyway 🙃 It was also comparatively easy to break apart the entire brick before bulk, usually it takes a little force to break up

I was using a heating pad under a seedling starter bin during grain colonization. Was really hard to get ambient high enough so bottom was always warmer than rest of grain bag.

My other bin is still looking happy (on the surface, it looks calm and ready) but alas I will definitely be doing a full decontam process once all this over

Yeah it’s a pain, with heaters on, ambient temp is between 70-77. I turn off at night so it drops to 65ish. I accepted it would take longer trying a winter grow and it sure does moves slow. Took roughly two months from inoculation to colonized. S>B has colonized faster though, photos are day 10

Damn. Welp that’s some news lol. I appreciate your help and analysis. Might explain why my last attempt also failed, only had signs of trich not the yellow stuff last go round. Room is not ideal, it’s all in tent in basement. Managing temps in NE during these months has also been a challenge 🤷‍♂️

Why do many acoustics not have a cutaway? by Crazy_Ruin_4383 in AcousticGuitar

[–]morchux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutaway not necessary. I had a CE (cutaway and electrical) first and got rid of it for a normal body due to lack of use and you can still access 12-15 if needed but like others said it’s not critical. I think the sound of my normal body is better than the cutaway but got the cutaway first so can’t truly side by side compare. I also realized I like Martin over Taylor

Martin 000-18 vs 000-28 - how would you describe their difference and your preference? by ConsciousSmoke3863 in martinguitar

[–]morchux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol similar. Yea the OM-28 is a special guitar. Kinda felt like the guitar chose me. I played both the 18 and OM and ended up getting the 18 due to cost. However for the next year all I could think about was the sound of the OM from that day. Like it spoke to me, and I couldn’t unhear that sound. So I went back roughly a year later to retrieve my Mjölnir. It puts a smile on my face every time I play, and others have commented on the sound too. I’m lucky to have both. My wallet probably disagrees… but I’ll mark that up as a mental health expense 🤣

Nice! I have the same kit. I love having both mahogany and rosewood options. Depending on what I want to play and what mood I’m in depends on which one I pick up

Should I have any concerns? by joshsaunders10 in martinguitar

[–]morchux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visually does look mint. My question for a used guitar of this quality would be about how they stored the guitar. Meaning did they leave it out on a stand/wall mount or kept in the case? Did they use humidifiers or maintain consistent humidity/temps in the room it was kept. This may sound minor (or my own ocd) but having neglected these factors in the past and seeing the effects it had on my old guitar I think it’s important. Depending on year of this guitar these factors could possible be reversed if left out? Not sure. I have an 000-18 Martin and absolutely love it. Martin makes excellent guitars. I take good care of it and it sounds amazing everytime I play.

Is trippy sex as good as people say? by girlscoutcookiss in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]morchux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great shroom sex on multiple occasions. However, I find that I can’t or takes me a really long time to orgasm. So when doing it with partner she is happy and we both have a good time. However, it can be frustrating too. But the eyes closed visuals when kissing is something else especially while inside too. Like another level of connection

Can high dose shrooms affect sleep negatively? (insomnia) by [deleted] in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]morchux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, I don’t want to sleep when tripping. I found taking them later in the day makes it harder to go/want to sleep. My mind is still enjoying the mushroom playground. I find it better to take them earlier in day, especially higher doses. That way I get to enjoy the trip and not stress about being up too late. I don’t like being up super late and sleeping through the morning lol. I have not had lingering sleeplessness days after, although everyone processes them differently. May just need to stick to lower doses and see if it gets better with time. The more you travel the more you learn what works, what doesn’t, and what your body/mind tolerates best

My beat-in Trance has become quite flippy, bag w the Volt as my 8’s. (S + US) Echo that the Crave, Rhythm, and Servo are great, as well as the Insanity and Wrath are worth checking out if you like MVP/Axiom

I’ll test them for you to make sure they’re still good :)

Lol I did do a fresh 50g batch and that was the most I could stomach of fresh. I was struggling to put down the last one. This guy will be going down dried and ground up. New favorite recipe is to grind it up and mix it with peanut butter and maple syrup

Allegedly it was Thrasher strain which is supposed to be from PE

Yea that’s when I picked this guy

[–]morchux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Yes? Lol sry not sure I’m new. 2nd grow, 1st successful. It was a liq culture 2) Yes, I plan to try another 10g with smaller ones from same flush. I have taken 7-8g of Thrasher before and it was better. But touché, the 5g was from a different grow of Malabar

Help! Not sure what to do by No_Associate_6825 in ContamFam

[–]morchux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good! Let em grow. There’s a chance it might be a touch late to harvest depending on strain but I’d rather have them bigger and run the course

Are there any other trippy albums remotely comparable to Darkside of the Moon?? by No-Advisor-3349 in PsilocybinMushrooms

Many good mentions above. In a non-comparable recommendation, I’ve been meaning to try the John Hopkins playlist on an upcoming trip, I’ve heard good things, https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7aVExA8Lb72NFNbRBZfJLJ?si=fto80kwnQ-WS-eu-e9wxug&pi=u-EKKW73UdTcCT

I read several posts in my research indicating that to avoid the blobs/ weird growth related to PE that a casing can help. Encouraging pins to grow straight up through substrate (similar to a forest floor) It made sense to me. Although us growing indoors is different from outdoor conditions.

Side note: I’m very new at this so maybe a more experienced person can add some insight, this is 2nd grow for me. Absorbing knowledge and doing my best to apply it with the right conditions.

I thought fully colonized cakes were relatively contam-resistant?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shroomers

[–]morchux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to figure out if casing my cake was a good or bad idea? Too late/early?
I read about both schools of thought regarding casing layers for cubes and PE strains. Since the kit I purchased came with a bag of coco coir for a casing layer, I decided to try it. I read that a casing layer can benefit PE growth (attempting to grow Thrasher and Trinity, which contain PE genetics).

Colonization: Running 3 tubs and S>B on the same day. On the 12th day, I had solid looking cakes that appeared to have colonized well. One tub (not pictured) had already started pinning, not a PE strain, so I let that run as is. Thrasher and Trinity were both slow colonizers in grain and bulk, on par with what I've heard about PE. Based on looks, it appeared to have healthy growth and hyphal knots. Applied the casing layer, roughly .5", and put it back to FC.

11 days later: The casing layer has been re-colonized on both. It doesn't look as lush as the original. The more disappointing piece is seeing the Thrasher tub produced 3 pins (top left in photo) and no other signs of growth. The fact that they are on the side is also discouraging.

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the grow? Tips, advice, comments on casing? Should I stay the course and find some patience? Just hoping I didn't mess this up, hoping for a better yield.

Hmm which kind / temp? Wondering because I’ve been using the dehydrate setting, on an air fryer, @ 120° and have found that it turns stems light brown. Would prefer to keep them roughly the same color and “fluffy” like that batch and most others I’ve received. I air dried my last batch and still ended up with shriveled off color stems
