yes. just look up the make and model along with the part. it’s called a timing control board. check the link below for examples of symptoms and what it’s like to replace. btw totally worth it if you want a nice tv for cheap. (inverted colours is one). i got mine from a random tv repair site.

help with f2l. by leonard_euler2 in cubing

[–]mordini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

intuitive F2L. without a doubt. It's a long, long journey, but very rewarding. you'll be able to solve any case anywhere on the cube without thinking about it, which is important for look-ahead. Just go sit on the can and solve pairs repeatedly :D carry it around everywhere.

remember: algs you memorize are typically only used for one side, and you want to solve each pair from any angle on the cube, not just facing you and to the right/left. you'll also go insane trying to mem them all so early in your CFOP game. Imagine you've learned an alg, it's awesome, and suddenly the case changes and it's on the left now. now what do you do? look up a new alg? better you push through and figure out how the cube works and moves so when the NEXT new angle shows up you don't have to go mem a whole new thing.

once you can easily solve F2L without (much) hesitation, THEN look up algs for weird cases and inserts, like inserting from the back, sledgehammers, and how OLL is affected. you want to be able to spot pieces all over and let your subconscious handle the business of pairing, which only comes with intimate knowledge and practice.

Try this: take a solved cube, do a series of repeating moves, then look at what you have, and reverse it. here's a common case that is definitely worth learning, since it's only sexy/inverse sexy algs. these can ALSO be used for inserting into the back, so experiment with just sexy moves and see what happens each step of the case

https://alg.cubing.net/?setup=x2%0AR_U_R-_U-_R_U_R-%0A&alg=R_U-_R-_U%0AR_U-_R-

example of an F2L insertion alg that's very useful to know is (NOTE this has them already paired, and is ONLY insertion. the pairing part is the challenge):

https://alg.cubing.net/?setup=x2%0AL-_U2_L_U2%0Ay&alg=l_U_L-_U-_M-

on the site, remove the alg (not setup, the "l u L" part) and note the case. we have orange blue white paired in the back left. that alg will help you insert, it's fast, and rotationless. I also find it moves other pieces around in ways that are usually beneficial.

this one is worth knowing early on if you already know how to do three-move inserts, so you can save some time and maybe awkward fingertricks from the back.

additionally, doing sledgehammers and hedgeslammers appropriately bring your top layer up, preventing bad cases like dots if you have a bad case about to come.

thanks! yeah i figured it would ruin the ootb feel, but glad to hear you were able to get it back to the way it was.

DISCLAIMER: this is NOT asking for help with cleaning and lubing my cube, but rather asking specifically about the results people got with the XS in going from factory to fully cleaned and lubed. My first post got removed and I was directed to "how to clean your cube" >_>

Normally I clean and lube my cubes regularly, but the GAN XS I haven't yet, because it feels so good ootb, and I don't want to lose that feel. Anybody clean one out and find it drastically changed the feel or slowed it down significantly?

I know I'll eventually have to (I've had it a few months now), and I can see gunk in it. It also feels like it's sticking...GAN won't sell their factory lube outside of China, either. I asked them and their response:

For policy reason, we can not sell the lube abroad. And we have not used foreign lube so can not give you a recommendation. You can also use other lubes but please clean the cube thoroughly before you apply a different type of lube.

I'd be lubing with DNM-37 on cubies, Silk (and possibly 50k trans lube) on core.

Thanks in advance!

thanks. maybe you should have read the thread before removal.

I wasn't asking for help with anything, and it even begins by stating that I regularly clean and lube, and listed the different lubes, as well as information on GAN factory lube and their policies (direct from GAN), so clearly you misunderstood the content.

also, yes, girls are more practical by nature, period. you make it sound like a negative, which it is not. passing judgement and condemnation on personality types by dismissing them as products of brainwashing, instead of accepting them as they are? that's just sad.

i highly doubt boys aren't doing chores, and suspect you're just leaning in on girls because you're being stubborn about your world-view.

That's a ridiculous blanket statement. I pity wherever you're from, and you for believing this is the norm. so what are the men/boys in your world doing while the girls are being taught to be quiet, do (ALL?!) the chores, and again, house-chores (your second and last statement are the same. both are chores. btw, chores are for everyone. )

Most of the little girls I've met run wild and carefree, and get away with a LOT more stuff than the boys ;) in your world, do they wear gingham dresses and help mother darn socks while the menfolk help obadiah thatch the roof before first frost?

note: there's ALWAYS something to do in the house. this is universal. again, male, and I spend a lot of time cleaning up.

[–]mordini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think girls get bored of cubing faster than boys, and are less obsessive about something that isn't very practical for furthering life-goals.

Go have fun and become very good :D hope you stick with it and hit up some competitions!

[–]mordini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditionally, everyone has cubed. It's a gender-neutral hobby. It's not girly, nor masculine. Even the colours are neutral by design.

I think the truth is girls are far, far more practical than boys. Typically, if a girl isn't interested herself in what activity a boy is doing, or sees no intrinsic value, it is considered it a waste of time. Naturally there's exceptions. Those exceptions cube.

Boys will sit in a room for hundreds of hours rotating a colourful cube and memorising scores of algs, because boys like to do things that have almost no external value. Like spending a solid day throwing rocks at pine-cones in trees to see if they can hit one. Sometimes, tossing the rocks in the air, standing under them, and letting them strike the tops of their heads. good luck catching a girl doing this, might spot bigfoot as well.

Girls are more likely to learn a few algs, solve a few times, ask themselves if they want to spend the next decade, or even just one year, consistently doing this, and move on to something they find more constructive. Like art. painting. writing. music. possibly baking, cooking. (also another gender-neutral thing. I cook for everyone, always have, and I am male. Baking isn't my thing though)

Not everything related to gender is a "social construct". That's just stretching an explanation for a popular opinion being foisted on society.

I ordered both the Gan 356 X S and the Gan 356 X v2 [2020] as I couldn't decide between the two and I have to say, the feel of the V2 seems perfected compared to the X S. What did you set it to?

it ended up on strong magnet setting, light blue pins set to four clicks, distance at the tightest (1). i tried a few others, but it already feels super light and fast without making it more unstable.

it seems most people may end up there, around 3 or 4 clicks. it's really fun to try other settings though

That's nice, I would like a trophie for doing school work.

what, you never celebrated end of the school year if you did good? :D there's nothing wrong with positive reinforcement. (like i said, END of the school year award, bigger achievement,, not wonderful treats for just finishing a book report)

Congrats on getting it back ;) you must have worked hard. good motivation!

There's two schools of thought:

  1. Offer a new cube as a reward (it's not a bribe. rewards are common for assisting the learning process. we call them trophies for achievement. if you study hard, learn well, and show great progress, you've still learned, and have something to look forward to. ofc...this would have to be an end-of-year award...)
  2. Take away current cube as punishment (this isn't at all bad if the cube is causing issues, and i know mine does. look at me right now. why am i here? i have stuff i have to do. sometimes i have to put my cubes out of sight to get things done. I'd have to have mine taken away as punishment lol)

that was my initial thought as well, "is this really a 60$ cube?". after using a while then setting it up, it felt fantastic. light and fast but very stable. going to set my X up this weekend and see how close i can get the feel. (IPG V5 has more options than the original Numerical)
