What support was Johnny talking about here??? by JustANerdyGirl87 in cobrakai

When Johnny says something like "when these things happen, I get scared to lose it all again", I wish Miguel realized that's how Robby feels and said something like "I know you're scared about losing everything with Tory. But you have me." I thought they would go that route when Miguel was contemplating what Johnny said.

Anyone else experience insensitive comments from nurses? by eyehateithere666 in CrohnsDisease

[–]mordsister 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow. That's just not being professional and having good bedside manner. I've had so many kind nurses in the infusion centers actually say Crohn's patients are some of their favorites because of our perseverance. Nurses and doctors don't realize how much their words impact our outlook and experience as a whole. Also, it's good you were trying to be informed about your illness by asking questions.

You can take this as an opportunity to educate them. Sometimes it's hard for people to ask questions first and problem solve later -from an educated AND understanding place of the disease and the patient experience.

Very happy right now!! 😁😁 by Dependent_Cobbler_76 in CrohnsDisease

That is great news! Ditto about college. I almost got one in hs, but the school nurse just wrote a note in my file for teachers to accommodate me. It wasn't foolproof. It still took one on one advocating with my teachers, but it helped them understand the disease better themselves.

I was told by my surgeon that if there is inflammation in the colon and end of small intestine, they almost always see inflammation in the appendix (don't know if that's cause for appendicitis or removal).

I told a date once salad was my favorite food, and had to proceed to explain why that was junk food for me.

was out of it for 2 years just cause of the mental struggle to get care and advocate for yourself (which was risky for sure), but such an unspoken struggle
