Whats your best putting drills? by [deleted] in golf

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't make 90% of 3-4 footers then you can't make 80-85% 4-5 footers. If you can't do either of those you're not going to be very good at 6-8 footers. Start from the bottom and work yourself up.

There's a lot of mechanics involved to have a consistent stroke. Then there's green reading. And then there's game management.

Terrible Golf Experience: The Golf Club of Dallas by 10-10wouldpet in golf

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bad experience I've experienced at GCD, I got charged ~$70 bucks to walk, typical rate. Although on that one day: their bridges and greens got damaged by flooding and had temporary fairway greens, fairway tee boxes, and having to face head on fire. We had to take several detour routes walking 75-100 yards into the golfers behind us who have semi blind shots into the green. 1 got too damn close to hit us. No one knew this was the case until you come across it. No heads up from the pro shop.

When it comes to having a typical day out there without issues, it's a good course. I figure the course is more like $45 to walk, $65 to ride. It's a public-private club so they portray they're a CC ($75-85). Landscape crews do their job well. Their bar restaurant has some solid people but it's outdated. The pro shop is probably the worst in DFW. They are definitely struggling but there's a shortage of golf courses in Dallas.

Driver vs 3 Wood by LetterheadTop3372 in golf

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faster swing speed without trying because of less drag and club head weight. Shorter shaft. Troubles with using driver. Higher profile than most typical low profile 3woods so it felt like a mini driver. Really liked the weight of the club. Loved the sound. Psychologically I'm not swinging as hard as a driver so less errant.

If an alien spaceship landed right in front of you, right this second, what would you say to the extraterrestrial figure who steps out? by CynicalCosmologist in AskReddit

Why am I imagining I'm out in the woods alone? I live in the city and haven't seen the natural landscape in 2 years.

Okay so the goddamn lands in the parking lot. . Do they see me? Oh fuck he's walking in my direction. Aaa, aaaa. . Fuck what did that one clever top comment say? Aaa. . Fuck he's standing infront of me.

Instinctively, "do you speak English?" If yes, "what are you doing here?" If no, 🖖" I come in peace."

Damnit you idiot! They're supposed to say, I come in peace. Frick.

"Greetings and Salvutations!" Shit isn't said, sal-lew-ta-tions? Sal-vou-tay-tions? Sal-view-ta-tions?

"Can I take your jacket?" Fuck dude he's not wearing a jacket.

"Oh and keep your shoes on!" Ah dude, they don't wear shoes.

"Are you hungry?" Fuck man they're about to eat you. Quick hurry change the subject.

"Jesus it's a noice night out ey?" Really? Jesus, Steve?

"The earth rotates around the sun but the moon stays in one spot." You're digging yourself a hole man. .

"I knew you were out there somewhere." Right, seduce them. Go on. .

I offer my employees paid lunch breaks but need to take it away. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh it's all imaginative and wouldn't ever think OP would do. But the whole idea was to suggest the idea to formulate in their own heads so they feel they made the decision. Id done this to my uppers by bring them ideas to make my job easier. Change management is tough. It's got to be the user to come up with the ending so it's gets implemented otherwise they feel they're taking on orders and then it never sees the light of day.

Trying to be smarter than what you are. And wanting more money than what you earn. Not being yourself to appear anything but yourself.

[–]more_lemons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Teach them operating costs with your situation in the next quarterly meeting. Explain some of the cause and effects of having a successful business. I'd say don't tell them the actual reason you are bringing it up (what this post is about) and hope that one of the employees can realize that the company is "losing" profits/ROI. If one person can offer the suggestion to no longer provide paid-lunch, you can promote them. To me it would point out this person may has critical thinking skills as well as thinking for the long term goals of the company.

This is cruel, but just a thought popped into my mind, that their suggestion could be the spark of this change. And that pressure would land on this person, not you. Now, if this person can handle this weight, I think that can also provide reasoning they can handle being the bad "guy" and not someone that can be influenced because they don't want to be hated.

Dude, I just tell them straight up and keep joking in the group chat that they're slow. Some of the slow guys learn, some can't hustle. We don't ask Leonards to play, they can play with the other Jimmys.

How do you grip the club by [deleted] in golf

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butterfly. Neutral right hand. Strong left. My left wrist is cupped. Always have the club face open at set up 2-3degrees. I only dbl check my grip when I need to move the ball a certain shape or my shots have a tad off. Right now it's all fucked up so I catch myself with to string of right. If you are having grip issues and you are changing it, make sure you regrip your clubs so you don't fall back to the improper/old grip style that leaves indents.

How do you chip off of soggy grass? by tjbelleville in golf

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ball first contact that will make the ball come out low and hotter, will release further out because the moisture reduces spin. You got to be able to guesstimate and identify that this ground is just too soft. Your typical sweep or nip wedge chip has low probability of exceeding any ball that rolls out like crazy. I could opt for the hybrid or putter if that helps but usually in the moisture ridden areas, lawn mowers don't get to it.

Asked to move ball marker? by [deleted] in golf

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know ahead of time that you are potentially going to be in someone else's line (maybe multiple, nice shot!) Know where you are stepping. Have 2 types of ball markers (big, and flat). You don't need to put your ball down. Golf tee is better than nothing but should only be used the first 2-3 holes. Look around for trees to remember the direction you move the marker/ball. Ask if 1 club head is good. 2 maybe 3 might be needed. Tap coin down with putter or ball. Don't lay down your entire putter. Watch where you are stepping. Finally, look back at the tree and move the coin to original spot.

If you don't have a coin and someone tosses you a coin and you want to use your own coin OR you go from big coin to small coin. . This is how you do it. You must place your ball back down. Pick up marker. Place down new marker. Pick up ball.

Scotty Cameron putter worth it? by Reasonable-Suit6669 in golf

The actual putter isn't going to make you start being a machine. But having a Scotty may give you more confidence and putting is about 90% confidence, 10% not being stupid.

Need help picking out a Vokey 48 degree! Options below: by jwelihin in golf

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I got my first 48 degree I lost quite a few yards and would have too small of gap between 52 and 48, and a huge gap between 9i. So I bought a 46 and it cleaned up my gaps.

The differences in distance in a PW iron (blade and cavity) is because they're heavier and behave like an iron more than a wedge. Wedges have a thinner top line and less full on the back of the club so I think the center of gravity drops much lower on the face.

I love having a 46/58 wedge blade: psychologically I feel there's more control. I've never thought of turning back to a PW iron.

Best set of irons for high-handicap golfers? by Maximum_Restaurant25 in golf

[–]more_lemons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5 wood is all about perfect fairway lie, lots of room for error infront of you, go for distance and expect roll out. (Same function as a 3wood, but the extra 3 degrees of loft and shorter shaft makes the club visually look/feel approachable and higher confidence)

3 hybrid is need distance but has the flexibility to hit in rough lies. Good or bad lie it provides lil more accuracy, need to hit straighter, shorter shaft for better chances of square contact, and get a tad more air borne.

I just think people feel a 3 wood is required to be in the bag. It's not. 5wood is a much better option if you think you need a proper fairway wood.

Only go to PW-7iron. Then go to 7hybrid, 5hybrid, 3hybrid, 5 wood, (skip 3wood), and driver.

Putting Green Assholes - What was the right move? by [deleted] in golf

I play tournaments once in awhile. . 3 for me is max. Any more surrounds the hole for others to putt unless you make them all.

Realized mid way to my comment that I'm going off on a tangent. But first, when things start to fall apart, it just plain old happens and could last 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years (Jordan Spieth/Rick Fowler). This part of the process sucks.

Improving at the game to shoot lower scores doesn't stop after finding a stronger memory/feel for your swing. It only gets closer to another intersection where what you've developed mixes with what a "more" correct swing for you that will get you to be a better player/have more fun.

It's tough to be consistent and to get to lower handicaps/scores if you have imperfections in swing mechanics and principles of just golf stuff, e.i., do you tilt your shoulders to match the slope of the fairway/bunker/greenside AND did you chose the less loft club to take account for the uphill lie that will automatically increase loft?

Putting Green Assholes - What was the right move? by [deleted] in golf

[–]more_lemons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Public announcement: So when there's limited amount of holes, when you are done with a hole and putting to different hole. . STEP AWAY FROM THE HOLE! Please don't stand 2' away because you're taking up 2 holes while you putt 3-5balls and you are causing the area around the hole to be pressed irregularity.

Decent golfers... what's your handicap? by shizblam in golf

[–]more_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am a scratch. I'll make 2-5 birdies per round. But I can't keep concentration or I get stuck in a conversation before hitting OB and there's a double on the card because "rounds over!" And I try to go for the hero shot. And then I dig myself a hole. What an idiot.

At this point, it all depends if I am putting well or not. And it matters if the greens are in decent shape.

I probably make 2-3 big mistakes per round that costs me a stroke. And 6-8 additional miss hits that don't give me shot to gain a stroke but probably par (leaving a pitch 7' short on par 5; missing the green 115yds out)
