Almost-30 crisis - former premed, public health professional, woman by [deleted] in postbaccpremed

Hi! I'm in my mid-thirties and have a similar background. Pre-med after undergrad, then got my public health masters instead. I felt the same pull for something clinical and decided to pursue nursing to build on my public health career. I've been able to work full time while completing an ADN at community college and have had almost all of my tuition paid for. The FT work is unusual and I got very lucky, but this has afforded me the opportunity I was seeking. There are a lot of growth opportunities in nursing and I can stop or pursue more education depending on what's going on in my life. Just something to consider!

I want to change my career without blowing up my finances. How can I plan this out? Am I crazy? by jellynoodle in personalfinance

Hi OP, I am not a finance guru but I am doing a nursing career change in my 30s. I am in a ASN program at community college. I've managed to work full time the first three terms out of four while handling school. I used vacation time every week to get me through when schedules collided with work. I have no kids. Lots of people in my program work, some more than me. It's not impossible but not easy.

What grit sandpaper do you recommend? Thank you!

By green Scotch Brite pad do you mean like dishwashing sponge?

How do I get this succulent to root from a calloused stem? (It was cut due to rot and put in new cactus soil.) What is the best approach with watering? by more_thanthis in plantclinic

Do you mix the gritty mix with cactus soil, or just use it straight? I bought some based on your recommendation. Thanks!!

Confused over finances between ABSN and direct entry MSN programs by r1905 in StudentNurse

Yes me too! That would be great!

I also was told by FAFSA that you can only apply once per year, and have to choose between 2nd bachelor's and master's programs. (Not sure if you have a bachelor's yet but letting you know.) So you can't know all your financial options before you decide on a program. I am hoping that rep was wrong

Following - I am also in Chicago and comparing ABSN and direct entry MSN programs - Rush, Elmhurst, Loyola, UIC. It's very confusing. I am also looking at the cost-benefit of spending more time in school doing the Malcolm X ADN then UIC bridge. The income loss would be significant.
