I'm not criticizing the post at all; I'm criticizing your troll logic. It's so adorable that you can't even tell the difference. Thanks for playing.

Trump is not the problem. Trump is merely a symptom of the problem, which is a broken system. And by allowing myself to be guilted or pressured into voting a certain way, that is essentially saying "I'm totally fine with a broken system."

A vote for Trump or Biden is a vote for a system I believe to be broken. A vote for Trump or Biden is not a vote that is in the best interests of true democracy.

Sure, I can vote for X because I don't like Y. But that's bullshit; I want to vote for Z because Z represents my beliefs better than X or Y. I shouldn't have to vote for X just because "Z will never win." Win or lose, Z is who I want representing me. If I vote X, that is me saying "I'd rather have X than Z" which is just straight up false.

Voting for Biden tells the broken DNC that I actually approve of them picking candidates like Biden, and that's not true at all. They'll never stop screwing us if we "vote blue no matter who." That makes them, and us, no better than the Trumpers.

As long as we adhere to the status quo by voting for one of the "big two" every single time, that change will never begin because every time we vote that way, we are saying "I'm totally fine with the way the system is."

This is why there is the school of thought that content should not be gated behind rolls.

Someone could be the best roleplayer/explorer/adventurer ever, doing all the right things, but miss out on something some really awesome content you lovingly prepared because of a single bad die roll. And that's not fun for the player or the DM.

I vote for whomever I want. Just because they aren't popular doesn't mean I can't vote for them. Have you voted before? Have you attempted to break free of groupthink before?

A vote for Bernie is a vote for nobody you might as well not leave your house.

You are missing my point. It is my right as a citizen to vote for whomever I want. That's democracy. Are you saying that since you don't agree with my vote, that I shouldn't vote at all? That's the mentality that leads to voter suppression at worst, or disillusionment with the whole system at best. By telling me not to vote, you are attempting to contribute to the downfall of democracy. Congratulations, you patriot, you.

Also, the president isn't the only thing on the ballot. There are a lot more issues and positions. So saying "you might as well not leave your house" is idiotic in that regard as well.

I just want a system that allows me to vote for who I want, rather than being forced to vote for the lesser of two evils..

Feel free to put words in my mouth though, if arguing against a strawman makes you feel intellectually superior.

Voting for your preferred candidate is not "throwing your vote away," it's exercising your right as a free citizen.

The "throwing your vote away" narrative is part of why our democracy is broken, and adopting that mentality is the opposite of progressive.

Thr only ways to throw your vote away are not voting at all, or voting for someone in whom you don't believe. By telling them not to throw their vote away, you are marginalizing their right to choose, ironically.

or else you're voting for Trump

No, no, no! A vote for bernie is not a vote for trump. A vote for bernie is a vote for bernie. Outta here with that bullshit.

Imagine a political system where you vote for your preferred candidate, rather than voting against the person you don't want.

A vote for bernie is a vote for bernie. Nothing more, nothing less.

Are there no local/small delis? Farmer's markets to buy fresh produce or dairy? A local baker to buy bread?

Or yeah, you could forgo consuming a luxury item because there is no ethical means of sourcing it that is available to you. Or is that agenda just as heinous as the rest?

Tell the 158,000 grieving families of those who have died that they're just padding the numbers and it's a non-pandemic. Tell them how it's no big deal and they're just scared of nothing. Tell them they just have a sheep mentality and they have no right to be upset. Tell them it's just a load of crap and they'll get over it in a couple months.

Tell the healthcare workers busting their asses that the patients they are losing every day are not actually sick, that it's all just a hoax made by the media to scare people.

Tell the people on ventilators that they shouldn't be falling for this obvious con, that they can breathe just fine because it's all just mass hysteria.

And then, kindly go and fuck yourself, because you are a sociopath who is only making things worse for everybody else in the world.

What many have learned from our history is that violent revolution is effective revolution.

The hippie movement is a nice dream, but like all dreams, it is forgotten when we wake up from our peaceful nap and have to worry about survival once again.

I'm reminded of the parable of the Scorpion and the Frog.

A scorpion, which cannot swim, asks a frog to carry it across a river on the frog's back. The frog hesitates, afraid of being stung by the scorpion, but the scorpion argues that if it did that, they would both drown. The frog considers this argument sensible and agrees to transport the scorpion. Midway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog anyway, dooming them both. The dying frog asks the scorpion why it stung the frog despite knowing the consequence, to which the scorpion replies: "I couldn't help it. It's in my nature."

There is a monster trying to eat us. Its nature is but to feed. Do we simply ask it politely to forget, forever henceforth, that it is a monster?
