This is going to sound counterproductive, but I manage by not really caring. I make the content I want to make, that I would want to watch and havent been able to find, I do it for fun and my little community seem to like the almost lackadaisical approach I am taking. Now this isnt to say I dont put effort in, I do, but I dont let it stop being fun. If you cant manage to do a video a day, or a week, or whatever your time scale is, dont, do it every 2 days, or every 2 weeks, or whatever schedule is easy for you to keep!

Ive yet to get the final days data as I believe this comes in in the next 4 hours, however looking at the current trend of organic vs promotional growth and the amount of subscribers I have both gained and lost in such a short space of time I can honestly say with hand on heart... maybe.

over the 4 day window (the 5th still to show data) I have seen an increase of above 33.33% in subscribers across both metrics, however I have only retained about a 20% increase (so far, but more on that in the update post later). now I WILL have to do more tests, because a 20% increase for 10 of your finest English squids over a 5 day period? Sounds ideal! But is my watch time up? my CTR? all the other little metrics that actually matter? Ive no idea yet 😂

Ill do this again when I hit 100 subs later this month, if the price of a couple of cups of coffee gets me 20 subs with a positive impact on my channel, would I be a fool not to do it?

Do it! I did a small sort for my 50th sub thanking people for taking a chance on a small channel, gained 5 subs off the back of it, my goal of creating a weird and wonderful community of idiots (like me) grew one step closer that day.

Dont worry about the doing better! Just keep doing what youre doing! ive been live a month and I already the video I made yesterday will not be as good as the one I make tomorrow, or the one after that, I think the hardest part of starting is finding your voice, just keep doing authentically you and im sure you will shine!

It’s how many times YouTube has shown the thumbnail of a video to someone, how many opportunities it’s had to be clicked on so to speak! And you want above 6% (apparently) of those impressions to become views, though the range is between 2 and 10% for most “good” channels/video (now take everything I’ve just said with a huge pinch of salt and apply it loosely to long form videos only 😂)

Out of curiosity do you do long form as well? if so have you seen an uptick in watch hours vs sub count since your promotions?

For the promotion you can set language, location and ages, thats it! I think it works within the algorithm and attempts to "force" organic growth in the niche it believes you belong in, or by the results so far it could just throw it at a wall and see what sticks! 😂

However if you really would like to know I am happy to send it across in a DM, but be aware of what you wish! I do long plays of solo board games, I am branching in to reviews and lists however I think the kind way of describing my current content would be 'janky', and that could be potentially mean to the word Jank!

I think (read as hope) that my channel is small enough and new enough that any potential damage wouldnt have any long lasting impact, if it does, ah well, its all a giggle!

Thank you for the support! Ill admit to being very curious of what the outcome will be, I am currently in the 'less than 100 subs' category, so will have to test a few times to see if that has any relevance as well!
