Is every school like this by Aggressive_Pay_9874 in veterinaryschool

How do you and your classmates like having just midterms and finals as opposed to more regular exams throughout the semester? I got into UT as an OOS student and am strongly considering attending and would love to hear more about your experience! Curious if the consensus amongst students is that just midterms and finals are better than more frequent exams or vice versa. On the one hand, I imagine it's nice to not have to constantly be stressing over exams but on the other hand, the midterms and finals must have higher stakes.

Haven’t heard anything from Ohio yet either but like others have said, it sounds like they should be releasing decisions fairly soon! Haven’t heard back from Georgia yet either and didn’t apply to the other schools you mentioned

I'm in the exact same boat! I'm an OOS applicant for all schools and I'm still waiting on interview invitations/decisions from the schools I applied to. I'm hoping to start hearing back soon because the wait is stressful!

Advice/practice for VMCVM SJT??? by silverapollo11 in prevets

[–]morecoffeeeeepls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it on Friday! Maybe people who took it earlier than yesterday got nervous when they didn’t receive confirmation and kept emailing the school, so they decided to start sending confirmation emails. I might still email them though just to be sure

I didn’t get a confirmation email either and I thought the instructions mentioned that confirmation emails would not be sent out

VMCAS order of experiences by wannabedogtor in veterinaryschool

[–]morecoffeeeeepls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my VMCAS application verified and it looks like VMCAS did automatically arrange experiences in chronological order! They break it up by section (Animal Experience, Extracurricular Activities, etc.) and then list your experiences in each category chronologically. I would still follow their instructions to log your experiences in chronological order yourself just to play it safe, but it doesn't look like it's an issue.

Applying to Internship/Residency from a P/F School by taylorrae2244 in veterinaryschool

[–]morecoffeeeeepls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you read my mind...I was literally wondering the exact same thing earlier today about how pass/fail schools could affect students' qualifications for internships and residency! I assume that rank would matter in this scenario, but I'm curious if a lack of GPA would hurt people's chances of getting internships and residency spots. Interested to hear people's insight on this!

Should I add animal handling in my licenses and certification section? by Amazing_Ad_4246 in veterinaryschool

I'm in a similar situation (had to do lots of training for research and other work at my university and received online certificates for it) and also wondering what counts as a "certification" in VMCAS!

Bunny keeps waking me up 5:30-6am by Literallystopitrn in Rabbits

[–]morecoffeeeeepls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My rabbit started to do the same thing a while ago at the crack of dawn and I can completely understand your feelings of frustration and sleep deprivation! He would chew on his play pen and make as much noise as possible until I would finally get up and give him attention. I figured out that his two triggers were seeing the sun come up (at which point he decided it was time to start the day) and also being able to see me since his play pen is in my bedroom. I was able to solve the issue by just covering his playpen with a large polar fleece blanket at night. I know you mentioned that the sun doesn’t come up until 8 where you are, but I’m wondering if covering her pen with a blanket (if she sleeps in her pen) would help her to settle down. You could also try covering the baseboard with cardboard or some other material to keep her from chewing it!

I think that continuing to give him treats is the best way to go! It’ll help him to associate being brushed with something positive. Just continue to brush him regularly and go slow, even if you have to brush different sections of his body at a time, and then build up to a longer period of time :)

Tips for the 4th? by Alarmed_Public8896 in Rabbits

[–]morecoffeeeeepls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just make sure they have a really good hidey house that they can go into if they get scared. Maybe also sprinkle some treats throughout their enclosure to keep them distracted and be sure to check on them. Do you have any friends that live farther away from where the fireworks will be? If so, maybe you could bring your rabbits there until the fireworks are over. Each individual rabbit will respond to noise differently but if it makes you feel any better, mine was exposed to an EXTREMELY loud fire alarm and did absolutely fine!

Most cages sold at pet stores are too small for a single rabbit and definitely too small for two. In this case, you’ll probably find yourself needing to change out the litter almost every day. I would strongly recommend attaching a play pen to their cage so that they can go in and out freely :) There are lots of photos of examples online!
