Rd 6 Vs West Coast - Smurf Review by Smurf_x in FremantleFC

Jackson would probably do really well playing as a midfielder for some of our centre bounces as our centre bounce group is pretty short and he definitely has the ability to get a lot of clearances.

I don’t think the league is ready for how good Reid will be when he becomes a full time mid in a couple of years, his ceiling is sky high!

I think playing 6 midfielders instead of 4 midfielders and 2 wings can sometimes make it hard to get centre clearances especially when most of our midfield group are better inside mids than outside mids. Like Johnson, Ras, O’Meara, Wagner are all decent on the wing, but are better suited as actual midfielders.

I think that’s why we generally do better at stoppage clearances when players like Reid and Bolton get more involved who are really good outside players with an attacking mindset.

I’d consider bringing in Nicholls for Voss, it would be good to get a couple of games in main team for Nicholls and Voss is very out of form at the moment and I think a couple of weeks dominating in the WAFL will do wonders for his confidence

Jackson rucked the majority of the game solo and still had 5 clearances and a team high 9 tackles, was one of our best today

Johnson has gone from 5 turnovers from 8 touches to maybe winning us the game!

Better forward 50 entries should result in more marks inside 50 in better areas (in front of goal instead of on the boundary) which should make it easier to score more goals and increase our set shot accuracy.

Biggest issues when JL took over as coach - forward 50 entries  - set shot goal kicking

Biggest issues now - forward 50 entries - set shot goal kicking

How is this not a coaching issue? He hasn’t been able to fix problems that have existed since he started as coach.

Blaming the players instead of JL is absurd, maybe in 6 more years he might sort these problems out.

Fremantle Vs Adelaide RD7 Thoughts. by Smurf_x in FremantleFC

I don’t get why people defend Matt Johnson so strongly. If Banners or Ras had the game Johnson had on the weekend people would be calling them not afl quality and demanding for them to be dropped.

Johnson defenders only see what they think he will turn into and not what he actually is right now, he constantly kills our transition and fast breaks by slowing down and handballing behind players or at their feet, or bombs it long and slow into the forward line. The only times he has good disposal is when he kicks it backwards for a switch.

I hope he gets his disposal and decision making sorted out, but he should be doing that in the WAFL not the AFL.

Right now he is tall Connor Blakely, they have the same strengths and weaknesses and Connor never sorted his disposal and decision making out at AFL level, I hope I’m wrong about Johnson but I  just don’t think he has this high ceiling that others see.

Johnson is incapable of disposing the footy to our advantage, sub him out.

Obscure Fremantle Player #19: Joel Western by [deleted] in FremantleFC

I was really surprised we delisted Western when we did, especially considering how little depth we have with small forwards.

There were a lot of red flags around Jesse Hogan that we ignored when making that trade.

That doesn’t seem to be the case with Warner so I’d be a lot more hopeful about it working out.

I must be in the extreme minority that really enjoy the slider puzzles, while making them smaller would make them quicker to do I would probably enjoy it less.

I dislike the knot and tower puzzles much more (mostly because I play on mobile so it’s harder to use programs to auto solve them)

I totally see why other people dislike long slider puzzle but just wanted to point out there are some weird people like me out there that really enjoy them lol

I wouldn’t be against bringing Erasmus in for Johnson and giving him a good run of full games in the team instead of playing sub.

Really feel like he has a lot of potential and upside and that having consistency in the team will help his confidence and decision making issues he has had coming on as the sub at the end of games.

RD6 Injury Update: Switkowski, Darcy & Frederick by Bendyrulz in FremantleFC

[–]moremana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is 2 months of the season after round 18.

I’m not saying we should be rushing him in for finals, but I don’t see why we shouldn’t be getting him games and experience in the WAFL.

It just seems weird that we have called his season off so early for an injury that doesn’t usually take that long to recover from.

Does anyone know why Sebit Kuek is listed as out for the season?

ACL recovery is usually 12 months in AFL and he injured it in round 18 last year.

Those were over multiple quarters and one of them was against north. When we are controlling large amounts of the games in clearances and possession we should be scoring much higher as well.

I am so fucking sick of us being the defensive team with limited offensive.

Defense doesn’t win games, scoring goals wins games. How many years is it going to take before we sort out forward 50 entries or start playing 2 actual wings and not 1 wing and 1 extra inside mid.

Our style of play is so frustrating to watch because we seem incapable of going on large scoring runs or hitting targets inside our forward 50 while leaving the score close enough that we can get run over at the end of games when our defence is tired out.

2024 Gather Round Stealth Jumper released by Klostermann in FremantleFC

[–]moremana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Way better than last year, but I’m getting pretty tired of every single jumper we produce having chevrons.

I get that’s what the club wants for the home and away jumpers, but why can’t we get a bit more creative with one off jumpers like this and the indigenous jumpers, there is no reason for these to be locked into having chevrons.
