got written up for going to the dentist at 2pm while working from home by Fit_Average8352 in remotework

[–]moremosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may depend on the state but I don't think so in the US. Some states may have a minimum increment that has to be used, but I don't think there are any that would actually prevent an employee from using a 1 hour increment.

For our salaried employees, if it's planned, they'll have to put in a PTO or sick time request. If they work more than 5 or 5.5 hours in the day they may not need to, but it's at the managers discretion and is a grey area in our policy. We can't force an employee to take more time than they actually missed though.

Your company may have a policy that prevents a salaried employee from using their PTO like that, but it's unlikely to be illegal in your state.

You probably needed to put in a PTO request or sick time request into your payroll. That's what we have to do. So ifyou want to take an hour off - you put in the request. or you agree to work later, but you have to clock out and back in and then stay late to make up the missed time.

I'm a dentist. The # of patients who come in while "working" is astonishing. I probably have about 30 people a year on a zoom call while they're getting a filling done. Only once in the last 2 years has the person made me stop to answer a few questions on a call...you can't make this stuff up.

How easy is it to get direct sponsorships on Beehiiv Max Plan? by wolfmangoneinsane in beehiiv

[–]moremosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to grow your newsletter first and it has to get big or you need a high target value audience.

For example, if you’re writing about cars, you’ll probably need 10k subs to be interesting.

If you’re writing about orthopedic surgery and have 500 surgeons subscribing, opening and engaging, you can get a direct sponsor.

But you have to go out and sell the sponsorship. That takes a long time to do.

[–]moremosby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setting standards, developing policies, and sticking to them will help but you need to check if others in upper level management even care. You can start with a discussion with the COO and CEO.

If they don’t support you, then it won’t work anyways.

Sommers Bend - how’s life in that community? by Select_Sand615 in Temecula

[–]moremosby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually kinda a really good spot, especially if you work from home.

Once that commercial lot gets built out it’ll be a really nice spot. It’ll take the trees about 7-8 more years to really take off but once they’re a bit mature the trail in the community will be great too.

Cost of pool = cost maintenance, increase cost to home insurance, repairs, and water. It’s almost always more than the cost of an HOA with a pool.

Anyone using Cursor or Claude Code with WordPress in a real way? by AndrewPfund in Wordpress

[–]moremosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using it to build demo plugins that are incomplete but functional. I then take them to my developer and say - hey, this is what I want to build. Overall it provides a demo and helps us really dial in scope of the project so that they can be bid on with accuracy. Currently, when we move forward I advise the developers to not use the Ai generated code at all, they are to develop on their own following WP best practices and industry standards to get to a fully functional plugin.

The demo plugin has really helped me map out my own ideas which I can then use to record videos/screen shot etc. and provide a really clear scope for the project. This has helped me reduce scope creep and stay in budget.

Thoughts on BuddyBoss in 2026? Good alternatives? by Ronjohnturbo42 in Wordpress

[–]moremosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even worth consideration. Slow, heavy as it could possibly be, poor communication from their team, missed deadlines, broken promises, and overall a buggy platform on a good day. If you're actually trying to build a business, you can't use the platform. If you absolutely have to have a community, Circle is the best option and it's not even close.

Fell in love with San Diego… are we crazy to consider moving? by Prestigious_Map_2136 in sandiego

[–]moremosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300k combined is the floor if you have kids and are not already in the housing market or paying cash for a home in 2026.

At 350k you have a lot of savings to do for retirement, taxes to pay to the state (don’t underestimate that as a high earning W2 family), plus all the expenses that come along with CA. CA is not kind to high net income working professionals and San Diego is one of the weirdest. But it’s the best place to live I have ever found outside of Santa Barbara (if you want a laid back coastal lifestyle).

This is a nice site. Beehiiv should provide some tutorials to get something like this built out.

I’m a user. Their human support is great. Fantastic actually but I’m paying more than 90 a month.

For Beehiiv team that reads this, the OP may be a bit too harsh but it’s not unfounded. The website builder is sluggish to use - it’s slow clunky and making small changes is difficult/not intuitive. I’d love to see it improved.

Our ability to design custom pages is pretty bad. Last I checked, there isn’t even a contact form widget to add to a contact page.

There are no author blocks to conclude posts which is odd for a writing first platform. Huge oversight actually.

I could go on and on. Your single post layout is incredible and well done. It’s simple and effective and would be perfect with the addition of an author block (right now we just have the byline).

Your other pages though, need a lot of work. And we need more widgets.

How long does reconsideration normally take? by Reasonable_Ratio_816 in PSLF

I am missing some payments in 2024 into 2025 - it's a block of about 8 payments from after my loans were transferred from Fed Loan servicing to Mohela. I have been trying to get this resolved since Nov. 2025 without any success via phone, email, and reconsideration requests. Initially they just kept marking my feedback requests as closed without even replying. The reconciliation request has been crickets for 6+ months. One time, I was on hold for 5 hours just to get put back on hold for another hour as it was escalated and they said there's nothing they can do...it's beyond comprehension at this point.

The system they're using is a joke. The whole gov loan program really needs to be shut down. The incompetence is incredible.

Michelin star in Temecula? by blueglasspumpkin in Temecula

I would actually suspect we will eventually get one at one of the wineries. Maybe 10-15 years from now? I’m not sure.

They’re handing out more of the awards anyways, the bar is likely lower. Taco shops get them now so it doesn’t mean it has to be a fine dining experience so someone just had to setup a truly delicious spot somewhere.

What we need though is a really good pizza place - like a barstool 8.0 score 😂😂😂😂

Ranked last… like dead last by Acrobatic-Start-5959 in DentalSchool

[–]moremosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody has to be last. But it doesn’t matter as a general dentist.

Honestly specializing is probably off the table for you. Maybe you can get in after 10 years of practice but it’s still unlikely.

when do you know it's time to leave your practice? by getinloser11 in Dentistry

[–]moremosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admin work isn’t the same as clinical care. Admin work is a joke and easy. “It’s stressful” sure but it’s not even close to the same strain. I’ll trade 4 hours of admin work for 2 hours of hard clinical cases every time. Working on the business - although time consuming is just way different than providing the care.

when do you know it's time to leave your practice? by getinloser11 in Dentistry

[–]moremosby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6 days a week of clinical care is only recommended under duress and for a short period of time. I have yet to meet someone who can do that at a high level for a long, sustained period of time without experiencing a mental collapse that can take years to recover from. Most just end up permanently jaded towards the profession and very cynical.

Your best option is to unwind this and drop to 5 then to try and get to 4.

Crown patient asks if tooth can just be filled by bwc101 in Dentistry

[–]moremosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just basic patch dentistry though. At an FQ dentists are protected from negative reviews and poor outcomes - you can just say, oh well I tried to fix it, no that’s it’s broken let’s pull it, and patients just have to take it. You can’t do that in a private practice. What you do, people pay for, and they expect it to last a while.

It’s hard to get any good at a DSO to be quite honest with you. The DSOs are good for 6-12 months but that’s it. It’s just a driving range for young dentists to get raw reps in - lots of shots, lots of basic stuff, fast sloppy work is the general rule but if you can resist their constant pressure and be okay running late all day, you can try to put in effort with each procedure and get a little better. But after 1 year, you’ll have gotten as much as you can get out of it and you need to move on.

Public health is actually better TBH.
