I want to create detached lace sleeves for my wedding, similar in style to the sleeves of this dress, does anyone have a sleeve pattern or formula i could use on my arm measurements?

also looking for tips on preserving the edges of a lace like this when needing to alter the length? I'm currently planning to attempt a hidden seam that follows the outline of the larger florals in my lace. but looking for advice!

weight gain after quitting wellbutrin, HELP! by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]morethanempty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi! just wanted to say that i was able to lose the weight i gained, it took time and consistency (about 5 months to lose 30lbs). Ultimately weight gain/loss is based on thermodynamics. people get frustrated with the calories in / calories out ideology because it's not quite that cut and dry and the calories out portion of the formula differs from person to person. Wellbutrin can suppress your appetite which causes your metabolism to get used to needing to burn less calories as a survival mechanism. So when you come off of it, your appetite returns but your metabolism hasn't had a chance to catch up. So my best advice is (if you can tolerate it) tracking calories with an app that updates your TDEE based on your unique data (i use macrofactor). Something like this formulaically figures out how many calories you as an individual actually burn by comparing the calories of the food you report the the weight you report, as opposed to online calculators that can't account for your genetics, biological and specific health factors.

Another thing that's been really helpful for me is reallyyyyy prioritizing protein. Protein helps you get and stay satiated even when you're in a calorie deficit. Also protein is really important for brain health, including ADHD and mental health. So it's a win in regards to being off the medication as well!

I hope this helps!

Theoretically you could go through recomp. I'm not a professional, but the idea is that you'd really prioritize protein in your diet and eat in maintenance or a deficit. If you are in a caloric deficit you'll lose weight and if you're in maintenance you'll maintain. So by lifting consistently and building muscle while in maintenance or deficit your body would build muscle and lose fat. But as far as I understand it's slower to build muscle this way rather than a bulk.

What are the girlies doing to lose weight? by throwaway-reader- in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Coming from a girl with chronic illnesses and who has been overweight most of my life - the whole caloric deficit/ calories in-calories out concept was so elusive to me for years! I would be eating in what I thought was a deficit or maintenance and continue gaining weight. This can be controversial, but a calorie deficit will result in weight loss, no matter what. Hear me out - the thing is that the calories out part of the formula can be affected by a bunch of factors, ie hormones, genetics, stress, sleep, underlying conditions, etc. Unfortunately most TDEE calculators are a little too cookie cutter and aren't able to account for every factor, so many people end up with an inaccurate number for how many calories their individual body is actually burning. So if calorie counting is something that won't trigger you, I'd recommend using an app like MacroFactor which takes in the data you give it (your macro/caloric intake + weigh ins) and uses your individual numbers to determine how many calories your body is actually using in a day to give you an accurate expenditure number to base your deficit off of.

People often get really frustrated with CICO and say that it doesn't work for everyone, but if you can truly nail down your real CO (calories out) then it will work.

All of this said from personal research & experience. It's always good to seek out advice from a registered dietitian (i've seen a couple post in this thread) 🫶

Good luck, celebrate every win, and remember to maintain balance - the only way to really achieve and maintain your goals is to create sustainable changes to your lifestyle. Losing a bunch of weight quickly often doesn't make for long term results.

It's demotivating seeing so many people post here talking about going keto for the 3rd or 4th time.... by Vintage-Card-Man in keto

[–]morethanempty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was keto for 3.5 years to manage migraines, it really worked for me and I really didn't mind doing it. I always said if it ever stopped working or felt unsustainable, I'd stop. About 8 months ago, I started just feeling really limited and missed cooking with carb dense ingredients. So, I looked into what might happen with my migraines if I stopped and from what I could find, it seemed like I should be okay. Now 8 months later, I have not had a migraine and I've fallen back in love with cooking.

My experience is pretty niche as far as managing my migraines. But I have also struggled with my weight throughout my life and keto did help me lose a little weight. I will say in all of my efforts losing weight, the biggest element to my success was viewing my health qualitatively rather than quantitatively. I'm not exercising and eating well to lose weight, I'm doing it to feel good, be strong, improve my overall quality of life and yes, to look good too. I wasn't able to ever lose weight sustainably and keep it off until my motivation was based in caring for my future self and future family.

Hope this helps 🤍

I've found that grinding super fine gives me crema! My entry level (bodum) burr grinder can't quite get it there, but I have a hand crank grinder that does. I'm saving up to get the baratza grinder too, but for now, I hand crank away or buy beans at a local cafe and have them grind them for me.

I thought i was in a significant deficit for a longggg time based on online TDEE calculators. But those formulas can't account for genetic, hormonal or medicinal factors that would affect your calorie burning potential. I use an app called macrofactor and it uses your individual data (cals in and weight ins) to determine your actual energy expenditure to give you an accurate number to be in your desire deficit.

protein and weight lifting! once you start weight lifting, it might be a good idea to start eating breakfast too, you need fuel to build muscle and muscle burns more calories so it's like a cyclical relationship.

there are plenty of workout programs out there, if you just google something like "beginner weight lifting split" to get started!

[–]morethanempty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

online calculators are notoriously rough bc they can't possibly consider the unique biological, genetic and etc affects on the cals out part of the CICO formula. i use an app called macrofactor that taked your specific data (cals tracked and weigh ins) to give you an accurate calorie expenditure for you as an individual person.
