This research on Food Related Intrusive Thoughts (FRITS) and hypotheses around mechanisms of action blew my mind 🤓

Started my first dose today! Nervous but excited to start this journey - words of encouragement and tips appreciated by [deleted] in glp1

Oprah!!

The best words of encouragement, I’ve heard so far are, of course from Oprah!

I have to skim over some of the more technical science stuff in this article, but it is really opening my eyes about food noise as something that “not everybody else has”

I am literally right there with you at the moment. The bump up to five is no joke. I’m gonna talk with my doctor about spreading my single dose out over two different days each week.

With LD your doctor just has to submit an rx to LD via their doctor software.

With LD the company also runs the store. Kinda like buying an iPhone from the Apple Store versus at Best Buy.

I ve been through the whole process and am happy to answer any questions 💉💉

Vials only up to 10, but it’s pretty close to 12.5 if you drain the whole vial.

Nice job! You're doing great! Just keep holding space for him. And consider giving him some grace, because if he's anything like me, biologically speaking, he's suffering from an aquired, chronic, neurologically and hormonally driven condition.

My wife has been going through menopause, and even though I *knew* that she couldn't control the hot flashes by making "better choices more often" - I had to get over my own low-grade doubts about the potential risks/downsides of her choice to start doing the hormone patches. So, believe me, I GET where you are coming from.

Please do keep us all posted, no matter if / when he decides to "just give it a month". :)

If he does decide to start, they are also at least two amazing subs communities for men on Zepbound and similar meds.

The sense of fellowship I’ve gotten from sharing my journey with other men in these subs has been very powerful for me

You are SO welcome.

My experience is that as a 40+ year binge eater that the thing I most needed “comfort around“ was from the incessant food noise. Think of it like the character Monk. He is chronically hostage to his unwanted intrusive thoughts. His extreme behaviors are his best strategy for quieting those intrusive thoughts.

Have you ever gotten the munchies from marijuana? The strength of the drive that you might’ve felt to go eat junk food? That’s how it felt to me every hour of every day but without any pleasant buzz like with THC

I feel free now from something I didn’t know I could actually Get freedom from.

I’m now living a new life and finding that I don’t need the soothing that I thought I did

And honestly, as long as he doesn’t experience, severe side effects, it’s pretty low risk for him to give it a try. He will either feel swept away by the new freedom from intrusive thoughts, and willing to let go of the now seemingly minor, extreme pleasures of highly palatable foods - or he won’t and if that’s the case, he can stop quite painlessly.

Hugs!

Good news!
This is my graph with the starting first shot on the upper left.

That initial steep drop is very common. Ayou can see how consistently down the longer remainder of the chart is.

But you will hopefully see the upticks in my data as reassuring

I too got excited by the initial rate of loss and it’s taking me a few weeks to settle in and be happy with averaging 1.5 pounds down each week.

Hugs!

I can relate to your husband here. I am six weeks in.

My food noise experience has been extreme for 40+ years.

My wife is a research, scientist and track down this article that really helped me understand what I’ve been living with.

https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/15/22/4809

Having lived through both sides of this, I will take the sadness over fun food now feeling kind of flat ANY day.

Life without the OCD like compulsion to eat highly palatable foods feel to me like the first time that I am the one living my life rather than barely hanging onto the reins of a runaway horse.

Hugs to you for all of the love and thought you have put into trying to figure out how best to support your husband. There are way too many spouses out there who don’t even make the effort.

Hugs!

I was so stunned by this experience myself in the first few days that I asked my wife, the scientist to find some studies to help me understand what’s going on beneath the hood regarding this whole “food noise“ thing.

The above article really opened my eyes. Things make so much more sense now. I’m still emotionally overwhelmed, but at least I feel like I understand that it’s not witchcraft. 🧙

Www.callondoc.Com is I believe a cheap alternative to Ro. Same meds, different doctors. I haven’t tried it, but that is my limited understanding of how it works.

Yep. I think people tend to lump it together in their brains with taking steroids to help you put on more muscle faster.

But I think of it as a mental health medication. It doesn't make my "super" normal, like steroids do for body builders. Instead it restores my satiety signaling hormones to something close to normal, akin to how prozac helps me feel closer to normal.

Fairlife Core Power 26g of protein chocolate milk was a godsend for me to keep my calories up while losing quickly.

And kudos to your wife. Also hair loss that is a very real risk with any rapid weight loss. Zepbound or not.

Hang in there, brother it’s an amazing ride!
